On the lightening front, Fast Bikes this month has an article about a project GSXR6 that they're lightening. Their aim is to build something better than a litre bike and then take it to the ring over the next couple of months.

I'm intrigued, do they specify exactly what that means? Power? More power than a litre bike, from a 600 would be very impressive!

More power-weight perhaps?

It'll be interesting to see what they acheive at the 'Ring as it's definitely a power circuit....

There is no substitute for a torque, something a a 600 cannot make back over a 1000.

would a 600 SS make more than say a SV1000?

this has gone so far off topic, but is very good general info

No. To get the big power a smaller engine will make less torque just at a million rpm

Indeed. A 600 cant make much torque at all. About 45ftlb's average a 1000 V2 is about 70ftlb's. A 600 could be tuned to make more power than a stock 1000 V2 but it would take some monies. A 1000V2 would be cheaper to get more power out of though.

Max torque is VERY much based on CC's. Something you cant make up for.

well, they don't mention torque, which means the greek one is probably on the money - its got air filter/zaust/PC3 to get to 120bhp. On the other hand, they have got the weight down to 153Kg, so they're claiming an R1 (0.779) beating 0.784 bhp/kg
