And as you say, it would be one step away from a child licence then there'd be pet licences - more for dogs and budgies, I know they exist for some pets and for keeping certain animals and so on. But then how bad could that really be? If you want a rescue dog from the RSPCA you need to have a house check and be questioned, should there not be some sort of reassurance that you are capable of bringing up a child in a reasonably suitable environment? NOT that I am comparing a child to a dog but I think you get my drift. And yes, as most people will no doubt bring up, all a child needs is love and attention, and it would be impossible to judge people on how capable they are at giving these to a child hence why I don't think licences could come into play. |

Deny someone what they want with a true passion, and they will find the means to obtain it.
The moment regulations were brought in to control child birth (for whatever reason), the government would also be bringing an increased number of kidnappings. Sad, but proven true by China. |

The reason we have a justice system is well illustrated in this thread. Its there to be dispassionate rather than pander to the worst excesses of an ill informed mob.
A couple of points.I was "done over" and robbed once, and I would cheerfully have killed whoever did it(no kidding)but a court would have looked at the case dispassionately and dealt with it as such.Which is better?Let people like me kill crooks or have a proper system? We have gone through different cycles of punishment regimes over the years, and it does seem that harsher punishment does not mean less crime. You used to get executed for stealing a loaf of bread, but it still happened. And Tony Blairs tough on crime thing?Well over the last decade or so we have increased levels of punishment significantly(hence the prisons being full to overcapacity)but the impact on criminality is small if any at all.Zero tolerance seems to have been a failure despite Tonys best efforts. Anyway Id advise to be careful what you wish for in a justice system.Lynching speeding bikers would go down a treat in some influential circles, and floggings for loud pipes too.
