If you haven't got it back now, there's no chance, especially with a Gixxer, which is probably one of the most nicked-to-order bikes. Why on earth would you leave one outside, in the London area with just a disc lock on?! Why wasn't it chained it to your car? Why didn't you buy more chains?

Reality bites.

thats self evident and no real need to point out is there...

You have to have a certain level of trust (hope) ,, its been broken

been there done that had to replace the bike...

ppl going... "oh you should have locked it in a bunkler" doesnt help...infact it ****ed ppl off BIG time.

just a note to self for next time eh?

...Love it...'Ah you wouldnt have me keeping my bike outside' 'you must buy more security' 'Buy more chains'

At the end of the day, not all of us are lucky to have a garage, or have the luxry of spare income to spend on MORE chains and some of us, like Kate, use out bikes EVERYDAY!! so locking it up elsewhere isnt an option. People park thier bikes outside, its an acceptable risk of having a bike in london. I for one park my bike outside my house, and then in an open car park in london. What else am i meant to do? Get a train...i dont think so.

There are so many odd posts on here. We all know why bikes are stolen, why cars, or any other items are stolen for that matter, to feed addictions, to feed the dark underworld, or just even for fun!! At the end of the day its a lump of plastic an metal and can be replaced, but it doesnt really matter what happens afterwards or why, its just darn site inconvienient and soul destroying. It removes your faith in the human race.

A new bike will be bought, and im sure, knowing kate, it will be chained to Joe from now on, and thats someone even i wouldnt want to meet on a dark night(again)!!

Viney, you certainly have a good suggestion there, you reckon Joe will be up for it?

On an update, I've spent most of the weekend moping about it, lol, wasn't sure what to do with myself actually! No bike to wash, or pop out for a ride

Yup, a new bike will be got, just got to wait the 21 days before insurance pays up. Might well be able to get a new one as I'm the first registered owner and its under a year old, but will have to see.

There have been four gixers stolen in the last week, well, the last one was stripped down to its frame. I think that might actually be worse than finding no bike at all.

Bad news so far kate.

My view: perhaps it's better that you ride something all the scumbags want to get their grubby mits on. That way, if/when it's taken, it's less likely you get it back. At least if it stays stolen & no recovery, it's cut & dry on the insurance.

Thats one less argument to have.

Strange logic I know, but I wouldn't like the soul destroying of my bike going MIA, only to have it returned & then have to cough up my own money to restore it to its former glory.

Thats what happened to my SV looked a pathetic sight when I got it back, And when the insurence came to pick it up they sent a transporter instead of a van, bloke rang m and asked if i caould help him wheel it onto the trailor. When told him it had no wheels and was only a frame and and engine he was a bit peeved.
