Sounds like a plan.

Geoff is coming tonight to give me a diagnosis. If its reg/rec I'll get in touch with the guy about collection.

I've got one for a K2, somwhere... Same part but with different connectors, you can refit the connectors from yours in about 5 minutes if you can solder, and it's brand new... I wired it in once to make sure it worked, then put it aside as a spare and never needed it. I could do it for £50 delivered, if I can find it In fact, if I can find it and also a blown up one I can swap the wiring, as long as you send me the wires off yours after as a part ex...

sorry Northwind, I don't mean to one-up you...

I've got one that I got off eBay a while back that has different connectors than what my '99 curvy had -- I never hooked it up and don't know if it works, but I'll sell if for 20GBP + shipping from Dublin.

Pic attached.

Feel free That's either a K2 one or a GSXR one, again just a case of swapping the connectors over.

No fighting boys....

Can't solder myself for toffee, but I know a man who can.

Let me have chats and I'll be in touch.

Turtle, can you find out postage costs please mate and let me know how much it would be in total. Prefer recorded if its not too expensive.

Northwind, thanks for the offer mate. If postage is horrendous from the Emerald Isle I'll be in touch.

Once again the sv forum delivers in my hour of need....Bless you all!!

UPDATE: OK My mate has some 'issues' with the prospect of rewiring one of these. So I have a couple of questions....

1. Is this a difficult and fiddly job?
2. Anyone done it and recorded it for prosperity on these here forums?
3. Would this be a quick fix and would I still need a new battery come the new year?

Sorry for so many questions but need to be sure whats involved and whether I would just be as easy buying the correct part.

Thanks again

Gordon

The soldering's an absolute piece of p***, big simple wires- you don't need to open it up, just clip the connectors outside the box. I've done a couple- CBR600RR reg/rec onto SV and once a Bandit connector- but to be honest it was too boring to photograph

You might still need a battery, they sometimes take a dislike to being flattened. No real way of knowing except trying to charge it and use it, even an optimate or similiar can give the glowing green light of approval to a fubared battery since all it can tell is that the battery is as charged as it can be, and producing the right number of volts. I've got an old Exide that shows up as fine with every tester known to man but can only produce about 30 amps, won't even turn a bike over but it'll run my yard lamp for ages, frinstance.
