Default Suspension Tuning

I've got the SV extremely well dialled in and it handles really well considering the buget suspension.

But my new bike isn't playing the game. I've got the front end set up as best as I can with the Spring/Oil/Rebound damping options available (no compression damping adjustment). eventually, I may end up with slightly stronger springs, a little more preload and thicker oil up front, but for now it's good enough.

But the back end is proving more difficult. With the standard spring and the correct preload (35-40mm rider sag) there isn't any static sag. The rear of the bike is too light to cause it to sag even with a much higher 60mm of rider sag dialled in.

Now I've never had a bike that I couldn't get at lease some static sag on with the correct rider sag settings. I figured that this might be similar to some of the bikes in Mini-Twins where the rear has been stripped of all weight.

Has anyone experienced this in Minitwins and was it better to run a little static sag at the expense of more rider sag or do you just go purely on rider sag and ignore the lack of static sag?

Any experience out there?

Static sag at about 10-15mm then if i'm honest i've never seen rider sag measured as that is done with the spring rate and alot more difficult to change easily.

Assuming ohlins shock then most minitwins will run a 80 or 85nm spring depending of size of the rider

A few hours more reading and it looks like the rear spring is too soft.

By dialling in enough preload to set the rider sag this eliminates the static sag. Using a stiffer spring allows less preload to achieve the same sag but also allows the static sag with this level of preload (even though the spring is stronger).

Turns out that more is less which is difficult to get your head round really

A stronger string allows more sag without weight but less with weight.

The thing is, the suspension is set at factory settings and there's no Static sag which makes things interesting.

A bit more twiddling to do I think.
