Default Do I need to lube up??

When fitting NEW clutch cables / accelarator cables do you have to lube them up first.

By lube I mean pull a few drops of oil down the cable or will this just attract dust and crap to stick to the lube and make the cable wear out quicker then if I had done nothing and fitted the cable without lube.

Thank you 'O' mighty org

I did mate when I put the new clutch and throttle cables on the cat, I put a couple of drops in the top and pulled the cable back and forward a few times to get the oil down the sleeve.

And in reponse to the thread title..

ALWAYS.. ; )

Pull the cables across a candle a couple of times - gives a nice slippy wax coat that doesn't attract too much grit!
