![]() ![]() I have a 2005 650SVS, 4500 miles recorded, got it spotless from a main dealer. I have returned to biking 3 years ago & have been very pleased with it so far. I have not been out very much this year due to employment abroad. However, I have just noticed that when riding in a straight line it "appears" the handlebars are turned slightly towards the nearside.I got a biking friend to take it out for his opinion & he said it was ok. I have checked all the bolts around the yokes etc, there wasnt a scratch on them so I assume they have never been tampered with. The bike has never been dropped or run into pot holes since I have had it, although we have a really bad level crossing where I live but have always ridden over it with care. I checked with the previous owner who confirmed the bike was A1 when he traded it in. The main dealer gave it a thorough check & road test. Its first MOT is due in August so is it best for the garage to check whilst it is in for testing? This is really niggling me, any ideas people? What a first class site, very informative, best regards to all & safe riding. |

Try turning the bars lock to lock and measuring the gap between bar end and tank each side. This should tell you if they are bent or offset.
And welcome to the madhouse.

When I first rode the SV, I found the off-centre ignition key gave the impression of the bars not being straight when I caught glimpses of it out the corner of my eye, but that passed quickly enough.

Hey.
It might not be the bars, only the upper fairing. I droped my new K7 on the first day with slick tires. The frame for the upper fairing got alittle bent. So when i had the bars straight forward it looks off compared to the speedo. I took off the upper fairing and bumbed the fairing frame back into place. Then you feel you have the bars straight, get someone to check the alignment off the upper fairing nose and the hugger off the front wheel. Mine was off with about 10mm. Sorry for bad english :P |
