Driving in the rain

Is very very fun! Massive slides everywhere, was brilliant. Came round a corner nice and slow, pegged the throttle and thought, hmm, what's going on with the revs? Increased the throttle and realised the rear was spinning, held it on and it ceased, which was good fun, it's nice to have a controllable slide for a change. Made me want to stand up on the pegs and rag it through lots of standing water. Hmm. Was also quite fun having a little squeeze on the back brake and letting it slide a little into a corner, all sorts of fun.

Only went to get some fags from tesco, but it's ridiculously rainy here in Kent. Makes you think though, what are the fair weather riders missing out on?

On the advice of the missus, I took the bike in today, through the torrential Hampshire rain.

Quite glad really, cos that accident on the A3 this morning really screwed the local roads up, more so than those people who "forget" how to drive when its gets wet/dark - who also didn't help matters.

Wet yes, but at work on time.

The best bit is overtaking cars you recognise then meeting them when they roll into the office 45 minutes later.

sounds like an accident waiting to happen....careful now

It does rather, yes, but I was just patting the brake really, seeing how easily it locked up for future reference, getting a feel for sliding and seeing how to get out of them easier. Bear in mind most of this was corners at sub 20 mph I'm not as extreme as I sound there.

I generally have a laugh in the rain. Just watch out for metal work on the road. Slippier than a slippy thing in a box of wet fish!

Add white paint & overbanding Overbanding is great as if you slide sideways you are soon off it - but the first time doesn't half give you a wobble :shake:

I had it happen to me on the AR, instead of giving it progressive throttle in a higher gear i nailed it in 3rd, rear span up then came round on me, then it gripped, snaked the other way, threw me out of the seat then proceeded to have a mini tank slapper with the bars going from tank to tank, a very horrible brown trouser moment which then made me ride like a gimp ntil we got back to the camp site.
So my synopsis is if it's raining the bike can stay in the garage

But that's exactly why everyone needs to know what to do in the wet. Otherwise you give up on that fantastic AR ride in the glorious sun just in case it pees down for the last 10 miles

So was it on a poor road surface that you opened it up?
And now you've done it once, you'll know what to expect better.
give it another go.

Wet weather riding makes you a better rider, you are smoother on the throttle, brakes and your movement on the bike.

This assumption must mean I am a riding God, now add to that snow and Ice, and I may just find my head swelling..hehe
