Default Grrr @ money

Well I took my car in to the garage today to have the brake disc and pads replaced all round at a cost of £233 .... ouch and when I pick it up I gotta go get 2 new tyres fitted which will cost £100.

Next week I am going to bite the bullet and get Zuky MOT'd at the nice small cost of about £20, but then with that comes the insurance and tax, £200ish

House insurance renewal came through today at a cost of £449 but I logged online and got the same quote for the same company for £221 so with a phone call save £220 . So I paid that off.

Forgot the council tax of £90 so paid that before they take me to court.

Looked at my digi camera which I broke at Oulton Park with the aid of Kwaks bum..... don't ask ..... needs a new one ay a cost of £80.

So I figured while waiting for the garage to call about my car I would go and sit out in the sun, so I lay down on the grass, took my new watch off as it got a thick leather strap and I didnt want a big white mark if I caught the sun and fell asleep. Nice . I woke up with a small slopping nose and chewing, I looked at my lovely adorable doggy lying next to his mummy ...... chewin her NEW watch, leather strap all in pieces and Samson looking very happy basking in the sun new watch £80

Saved £200 on insurance today but still not worked out the moral of the story !

Ouch, brakes and pads are a nice little money earner for garages sometimes...got told once to replace my front discs and pads on my Focus, I think they wanted something like £150-£200+.

Bought some pattern parts for about £30 all in I think! Discs/pads are so easy to fit it's definitely worthwhile trying it yourself. Very few tools needed normally.

I wish I had the know how and I would have a go. I have no-one that can do them for me, my brother is loaded and says "take it to a garage" and my Dad ain't in the country no more, no fella!

Garange have done it, I thought £233 was not bad. I also asked them to take a look at a knocking noise coming from my suspension, which they have. To my sursprise they said its nothing and if not maybe a little wear on the suspension bearing but it'll have to be stripped doewn which is a job and a half. They told me to leave until noise gets worse and then take it in. They could have ripped me off so maybe my day is looking brighter !!

The daughters car got, you need new discs and pads at the first service after she had bought it. Strange says I, we got the history with the car and it, and your last invoice included discs and pads.

Well sir, they still need doing. So under your warranty?. I will check with the service manager. Yes sir, we will do them under warranty as they should have lasted more than 3000 miles.

Saved £240 for her with that. But I also priced up discs and pads, Their labour to do the job would have been £180 for a job I could have done in less than 2 hours.

BTW, I use eBikes sister company ehouseinsurance and renewed yesterday, £153 for a 3 bed semi with £50,000 contents

I never quite got that kind of attitude lol - I am not too badly off (work for an investment bank) but I still watch the pennies - hurts to see them "wasted"

I'm sure there's people on the forum in your area that could help, but if not organise an 'org visit' and we'll sort it all out definitely stuff like discs and pads, anyway.

Btw one of the best things for learning yourself is a Haynes - although, I would say treat it as a book of tips rather than a set guide, if something in there looks strange and/or unnecessary, think about not doing that step.

Why not just get a new strap on your watch, it won't cost 80 quid.
