Not on My SV but car indicator relay, it ticks after the indicator has been turned off, no indicator lights iluminate, just the relay ticking.
I know that a relay is a switch that is/can be controlled by another circuit, can be used to switch higher voltages with a low voltage circuit to reduce arcing and can also be used to delay switching. In automotive lighting/indicators relays are to reduce arcing/wear on the switches. All that said I dont know what causes an indicator relay to tick when not in use? and it's intermitent! (worse kind of fault). I know this isn't SV related, but I know there are wiser people who frequent this forum. |

Remove the relay & use switch cleaner & scrub the contacts, pay particular attention to the ground pin - it sounds like the relay isn't grounding right.
After that, if you still have the ticking but no indicators, get a DMM out & stick probes down the relay slots. Also strip down the steering column & take a close look at the indicator stalk (as this is where the power comes from for the relay). It's not an Alfa is it? They're quite well known for this problem, and it usually ends in a new indicator stalk. |

Thanks, I'll check that and give the pins a clean.
The indicators work fine, it's just annoying when the relay keeps ticking. |
