Default SV fuelling, air filters etc.

So I had the race bike dynoed today.....

Well its producing 70.8bhp on SCD'd dyno, so needs to be sorted out.

The end can needs repacking so no problem. My main questions is it worth having an K&N air filter or something simlar on the bike?

Bear in mind that I have to stick to 72bhp I'm just looking for the best fueling setup. Would it be better to get set running on a standard air filter?

Also whats the best race air filter to have on the bike should I need to get one? I should point out this a K3 injected bike.

BMC would be my choice of filter.

If you are running with just a slip-on can on the OEM downpipes I wouldn't really bother but if it is a decent full race system then it is worth doing.

Its a Ti Hindle slip on, with the hindle pipe work, so at least its a good system I just need to sort out the end can ect.

Are you really going to notice the extra 1.2 bhp?

Depends if it adds any in the midrange I would guess.

speak of the dappa and he shall appear!!...

mines a curvy....as JJ said ive recently fitted a BMC Race RS filter and gone up to 155 main jets (mikuni)...it felt like it pulled slightly better....lots more induction noise (i only have a slip on end can..not full system)....

ive got lots of info if you will be rejetting urself that i can send you tomorrow if u want it...as its on my work comp....it will definatley help.....tells you how to test etc i found it very useful, (thanks to )....

I will say tho...although im happy with it.....its still not perfect...and its a PITA....I have all the info and tutorials on how to re-shim / move needles etc etc (thanks to boo86) and how to set it up best at each throttle position, but its hard work (for me anyway)...if you can afford it Id say get a pro shop to do it like jhs bristol etc...but if not and you have the time to do it all I can send the info....let me know fella

edit.... i should point out...i wanted to put it on a dyno...but i wont, too scared!, i know it wont be right, or something could be improved and i wont be able to leave it alone and it;ll be more tinkering, ignorance is bliss.

1.2 bhp!!

FFS! I seriously doubt if there is anyone with enough knowledge/BS/technical know how on this forum who can really and honestly say that they could tell the difference between 70.8 and 72 bhp.

Chris, just use what is there and don't worry about being on the 72 bhp limit. It's not that important at your (or my) level. I can guarantee (sp) that you couldn't tell the difference between 60 and 70 bhp never mind 70.8 and 72.

Yes, top end, flat out that's only going to make a difference if you're alongside exactly same bike with exactly same aerodynamics and rider.

However, what if that adjustment is going to add say 5bhp at 5k rpm at maybe 50% throttle. That bit extra response is getting to be significant. However, I don't know for sure what it'll do.
