...not the band, the programme on BBC2 tonight. So so sad. Most emotional programme/docu thingy I've seen in a long time.
Any one else see it? That is all. ![]()

What was it about? Sound like it might be a War thing or maybe a biker thing?

War thing. Long list of those that have died in Afghanistan...with some input from family and friends of particular ones - raw emotion stuff.

Not to detract from the sadness of those concerned, but I doubt anyone's made a similar prog for all the uncounted innocent Afghan/Iraqi/Pakistani/Kurd** victims.
No-one wins, it's a question of who loses most. ** delete/add as appropriate.

The prog wasn't about winners. More losers really. We all see the headlines - "British service person dies. Next of kin informed." What the programme did was put some of those unfortunate individuals into a more realistic context by exposing their humanity whether it be by personal interview with family/loved one or by letter/video etc. Very moving.

tiss all good properganga. ![]() ![]() As at 15 November 2008, a total of 125 British Forces personnel or MOD civilians have died while serving in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001. Of these, 98 were killed as a result of hostile action. 27 are known to have died either as a result of illness, non-combat injuries or accidents, or have not yet officially been assigned a cause of death pending the outcome of an investigation. The balance of these figures may change as inquests are concluded. didn't last weekend mean anything to you...
