I bought my boots on 30/06/08 and the zip has just broken, am I within my right s to take them back to the shop and ask for a repair?
The boots are Puma ones and they are great, cost £149.99. Normal everyday commuting usage, so they should be fine shouldn't they? |

It's got to be worth a try - the zip broke on my Sidis and cost me 30 quid to get replaced (they were nearly 2 years old by then)

If you'd bought them from a shop I regularly use, it'd be a case of taking them back, explaining the situation to the pretty lady behind the desk and then 2mins later walking out with brand new boots. Yours would be sent away for the manufacturer to deal with.
THAT is customer service. ![]() Most shops should do this, but if the manufacturer deems that the defect is due to normal wear & tear, they won't do anything. So if the shop has already refunded/replaced, the shop would be high & dry. So many don't handle it like that. As the others have said, try it. I would. If nothing else they might be able to recommend a place to get them fixed cheap. |

I had my faulty Arlen Ness 1064's swapped after 3 months or so of ownership.
I got the replacement 1064's swapped for a pair of Alpinestars after they failed in the same way, after about 8 months. Approach the shop nicely and see what happens. If its a common fault (like mine appeared to be) then they may offer a different solution such as a replacement from a different manufacturer. |

Its worth a try, go for it. If the shop can't (or wont) do anything then I would contact the manufacturer.
TBH for that price they should definately last more than one year. Maria |

Indeed, try to be polite and see what happens.
I had a pair of trousers replaced nearly 1.5 years later as the seems all let go. They didn't have that version anymore so gave me a free upgrade to the newer trousers, result ![]() |

Worth a try for sure but sadly most warranites dont cover zips or other fasteners...even tho they are the most used and stressed parts of most boots. Go figure.
Put on your best pulling smile, walk with head held high. be polite and above all dont get on any high horse cos if they refuse its a long way to fall down off that horse ![]()

Well good old J&S have said that they cannot swap them out, but are going to send them to Puma, only problem is I have to live without them until they return. Not on the bike next week so fingers crossed.

I`d say yes you`re definitely within your right. Where did you buy them from??? I took a pair of textiles back to Heingerricke... the zip broke after i`d had them about 14 months, I didn`t have the receipt but they sent them off for repair. Having said that they were their own make so that probs made things a lot easier
