How To: Remove CCC Can baffle?

Forgive me if the answer is as simple as it seems I just don't want to mess anything up!

Is it as simple as removing the rivet in the bottom of the can exit and pulling out the baffle?? Is it simple enough to put back in if needs be having drilled out the rivet?!

I think if you needed to put it back in you'd use a nut/bolt jobby?

Or just drill it out and "lose" it..

Yeah you would need a self locking nut and bolt when placing it back in.
Get it done as you won't want to put it back in after anyway :P

Getting it out requires large broom handle or similar and some patient wiggling as they are pretty damn tight.

Putting it back in again when you realise it's just too damn loud requires nice stainless steel nut, hex headed bolt and a sprung washer.

Get a nail punch that will fit inside the rivet, give it a good few whacks with a hammer, then drill out the rivet.

Coat the baffle liberally with WD-40, go for a cuppa, come back with decent sized grips and pull/wiggle it out.

Chuck baffle in a plastic bag together with a self tapping screw/bolt and shove under seat in case you get pulled.

That's all I've done.

note: having the baffle unser the seat when you get pulled doesn't help. ( )

It was quite easy to remove actually. Just used a selection of pliers and managed to wedge the baffle out easily.

I was thinking of putting it under the seat, what's the punishment for not having baffles in?

Sounds lovely, not too much louder but just a nicer sound.

That's something that's been discussed on here a few times. IIRC possibly a fine and it could invalidate your insurance.

The fine would be £30 non-endorsable (same for visors, numberplates etc...)

I would advise against grips,pliers or anything of that nature if you intend to ever put it back in as it'll distort the inner ring and look a mess for ever more.

A wooden broon handle or piece of reasonably well fitting wood in the hole does not damage anythign you ever actualyl see so far better if there is any chance of you ever putting them back in again.

Also, if it's not obvious when you look at it, the baffle is both the inner "pipe" and the "flange" that sits over the outer "pipe".

And no sniggering or cheap inuendo about sticking yuour broom handle up the flange as it's all be said before!
