Hi all, Ive just been trying to fit my R&G's onto my spare minitwin. And one of the OE bolts has sheared when I tried to remove it.
Any ideas greatly apreciated on how to get the remaining bit of bolt out without dropping the engine? I will if I have to but I'd rather not. It has sheared inside the frame rather than outside if that is any help? Cheers. |

Right hand side and the front of the 2 that the R&G's fit to on the K3 onwards. Just been looking at it and there is no way I can get it out without dropping the engine.
Dont have an extractor long enough with it fitted. Bacause it has sheared at the join between the engine spacer and the cylinder head. So i'd have to go through the frame and spacer to get to it. Bain of my life these cheap chesse suzuki bolts! Last edited by Sideshow#36; 28-05-09 at 05:08 PM. |

Can't quite picture the sizes involved, but would a long thin socket on the end of an Easyout get in there?

If it's a bolt that goes right through I have a tip for you.
Use a drift or rod and start tapping the bolt out from the nut end then leave the drift/rod in place to hold the engine and remove the sheared bolt. Get your new R&G bolt and insert that then knock the drift/rod back out where it came from as you go. I think that makes sense? Either that or put a jack or some wood under the engine. |

It's not, its the one in front of the through engine bolt. It's about 4 inches long from memory.
Dunno how he's gonna get it out. Sounds like a nightmare ![]()

Yeah its the front one. Its Ok I will be finishing dropping the engine tonight. Luckily it sheared inside behind the spacer so there is no problems with dropping it out.
Got a mate who can do magic with sheared bolts and studs using electric or summet or nuffin ![]() So fingers crossed it'll get sorted. Cheers for any replies. Always apreciated. |

hvae you tried a drill thats size just smaller than the thread of the bolt dead centre so you odnt damage any thread. or just drill it and cut a new thread in and a slightly larger bolt
