Default bike colour change - dvla

Right, i understand that if i repaint my bike i have to inform the insurance company of the change, how do i go about telling the dvla.

plus.................

i dont like the colour, if i cant change the colour of the bike, for say a week, and i think its a bit daft telling the dvla that i changed the colour twice in a week, (unless i simply phone them, which i doubt)

i take it i'm not allowed to use the bike? if i inform them in the morning, how long will it take for them to recognise the colour change, i.e if i phone them/send documents in the morning, can i not use the bike till they return the docs?

Fill out blue form on the sheet and send it off, dont know about the riding it thing dont think its illegal but questions may be asked if asked by the police i.e why is the database saying your bike is silver but its blue but if asked just say, i have notified of the change and have sent of my log book

I rode my ped whilst i sent log book off for colour change, prev owner had been riding it round for 8 months or so with the colour as white on log book and it was black, he'd even had it go off to insurance as a black bike with white on log book.

yeah, i'm probably only gonna go out on it maybe once till i repaint it, so i'll probably wait to send the log book off, like i said, it will be next week by the time i get to re do it, i'll tell the insurance in the morning tho, coz you know what there like

Im pretty sure my insurance didnt ask for the colour. Do I really have to tell them? Does the colour matter to them?

good question, i always thought they'd asked for it seen as its on the documents but thinking about it maybe they dont, they just get it from the numberplate, but they do tell you to inform them of any changes made or it invalidates the policy, so probably worth letting them know

Its worth a call to the insurance to ask them anyway, never been asked the colour when taking out insurance, but it's best to be safe

If you keep 50% of the original colour of the motorcycle you do not need to inform them at all. You can then change the design and colours as often as you wish.
