Default sv nekid getting rained on

Does it do the sv any harm to leave it outside to get rained on all the time? I leave mine outside all the time and am getting lazy as i cant be bothered to cover it up any more.

If it does do damage over time what are the areas to keep an eye on?

Make sure front spark plug don't get wet from water getting in through the drain hole or plug cap

if you're that bothered, staple together a load of plastic sacks to fit over the bike lol, will keep the majority of the rain off.

I find water gets in the ignition barrel and clutch switch so they need stripping and cleaning every few months to get the corrosion off the contacts. Thats about all thats happened, and its been sitting outside, uncovered since august.

On a similar topic, is there any point in covering a bike that is already wet? I understand putting a cover on a dry bike to keep the rain off, but if the bike is already wet, it'll just be wet under a cover, or wet in the rain.

I was assuming that the next time it dries out during the day the cover will go on for when it next rains. Obviously no point if already wet

Ok I was querying the "obviously" bit. I'm asking whether anyone knows if there is any tangible benefit to covering a wet bike in the rain. There may be. Keeping further oxygenated water from contacting the vehicle might be an advantage, as a certain amount of water can only cause a certain amount of corrosion. (This is all guesswork, btw - hence the question).

I mean - in the Rossendale Valley it can quite happily rain for a week
