Hey all,
First time i've ever posted anywhere... I have looked through all the old forum's and done by best to bang away at the new search engine but am coming up short for my question. Here goes... Which seat gives the lowest rider height? Gel, Sargent, Corbin, Other? My wife's heal is about 4" from the ground and this is her first bike so having her foot flat would be a good thing. The forum has multiple entires about dog bones/lowering kits effecting handling, which neither of us want (we share the bike for the moment). I'm sure some of this 4" can be made up with big shoes, stilts, knee implants or leg grafting, but the rest will be left up to the seat... I know several of you guys recomend seat shaving, which i just tried with a stock seat from EBAY. Needless to say it didn't go well. The k3 650 seat i recieved not only didn't fit, but i butchered it! Foam is much more difficult to work with than i originally thought. Obviously it wasn't a k3 650 seat as advertised and i have the arts/crafts ability of a 10 yr old missing both thumbs. ![]() ![]() Any ideas/specs/blah blah blah are welcome. Thanks =) |

Both K3 650 models and the 1000SK3 share the same seat. All K4 on and naked K3 1000 share the same seat fitting, so if the seat you've bought doesn't fit and it's definately a K3 seat then it's from a naked K3 1000, those being comparatively rare I'd guess you've got a seat from a K4 onward.
As far as I'm aware the lowest seat is the low seat option offered by Suzuki, which is quoted as 10mm lower in their info but is at least an inch lower. Try getting another seat, it must be a K3 seat though, and obviously not from a naked 1000. Lowering links are the only way you're going to get it anything like as low as it sounds like you need, as long as you drop both ends a similar amount the handling shouldn't be adversely affected.

I saw that on the specs for the 'low' seat... but i've also head of people saying the Gel seat is also roughly 1" lower... and i read somewhere that Sargent/Corbin seats are lower than stock, but i'm not having any luck verifying that =).
