Default Police to lose some stop and search powers

Interesting this one, very unusual to see these powers revoked.

Not a moment too soon.

Disgusting piece of legislation, much abused.

The only problem is, that it won't stop the more clueless coppers from still (illegally) stopping and searching people. Or harassing photographers who take photos in public places.

We still have section 43 but we need grounds to search much like the other search powers we have.

Yep - the article states that this power will be brought into line with other police powers by requiring 'reasonable suspicion'. So the power hasn't gone away, just been reined in a little.

I agree.

Section 43 has been around as long as 44. Its not being changed to fit.

"ways and means act"..

a wiley officer will find his suspicion from somewhere so in truth, it doesn't mean a lot..
