Just testing the water with this before I come back with facts and figures (and ask permission
![]() Would there be any interest in a mail order service to have your brake systems overhauled, rebuilt etc. New seals, strip and rebuild, new fluid, pads, hoses etc? I'm thinking along the lines of you agreeing on a particular brake service option, mailing the complete system (or component parts) to me via courier, I do all the work, rebuild, seals etc, even fill the system and bleed it up ready to bolt on, mail it back to you for re-fitting to the bike. I know a bunch of people have trouble with brake system servicing or dont have the confidence or knowledge to do it. Hopefully I can help with that. If its something people would like to see let me know on here or PM and I'll set the wheels in motion, pardon the pun. |

Sorry Flymo. I do not know you, therefore I do not know if you are competent. I am sure you are otherwise you would not suggest doing it.
The problem is you would have to have insurance on your work. Otherwise you would be sued all over the place by people using the Flymo overhauled my brakes and now I crashed syndrome. I always worry whenever I service somebodies bike/car/truck free of charge doing them a favour that they are going to come back using me as an excuse. It was great when part P came in as I had a valid get out whenever people asked me to do a house rewire.

I thought about doing this, decided not to in the end because it's a pain in the tits cracking caliper bolts without a bike to hold it in place for you, and using the vice will get peoples frilly little panties in a twist when it scrapes a 4 micron patch of the rust off of the back side that you can't see with it fitted.
And it's a pain doing it without the hydraulics to help get the pistons out. Oh and they'll probably be upset when you tell them how much piston and seal kits are because the caliper has been lovingly stored in the North Sea since the mid eighties. Best of luck ![]()
