Default New SV rider

Sorry if this is in the wrong area but I couldn't find a new members area to introduce myself.

Hello all. After a couple of years away from biking I had some fantastic news this morning.

A while ago I asked my Dad if he fancied selling me his 99 SV650s as its not been used for a while and it just seemed a waste for it to just sit there. Anyway he rang me this morning and said he wasnt willing to sell it to me but was was going to give it to me as an early birthday present. I couldnt believe it im dead happy.

Ive never actually been for a ride on his SV (or any V twin)before but my two previous bikes were suzukis (bandit 600 and GSXR 750) and i was really happy with both of those.

Have a loooooong wait now before next weekend when I pick it up and its really gonna drag. Im not sure what the mileage is but its in great condition and has been well looked after.

I quite like the look of the lower fairings on SV's so I think that will be one of the first things I get. As its already got a belly pan are there any fairings which fill the gap between the pan and the upper fairing or do the lower fairings replace the belly pan completely? where is a good place to get lower fairings from? And how much are they likely to be?

Well im looking forward to posting some pics once ive got it home, in the meantime I cant wait.

Welcome on board mate. Lower fairings for curvies are like gold dust and not cheap. I think you're looking at about £150 for a second hand set (if you can find any!), and will then probably have to get them resprayed unless you're lucky enough to find some in the right colour. AFAIK, they are a replacement for the bellypan. Not sure if any exist which are compatible with it without modification.

Enjoy the bike!
