Consequences of no MOT?

As the title suggests. Anyone know the proper consequences?
Just to point out, it isn't for me.. I'm all legal

Internet tells me just £60 fine, I'm thinking down the route of 3 points + bike seizure?

Up to a £1000 fine and some insurance companies invalidate your insurance which can be 6-8 points and an additional fine.No insurance can be vehicle seizure and is common practice.

No MOT is not such a trivial offence as one would think.

You can add invalid insurance which is at least £200 plus 6 points, potentially £2000 plus disqualification if it goes to court.

Pretty sure no MOT will not invalidate the 3rd party element of your insurance and that is the legal requirement.

If it is a few days/weeks out of date, you'll be looking at a small fine, if it's much longer then a court summons with a possible £1000 fine.

I have been caught a few times in the past, as I'm forgetful, and only once have I received a fine (£60), the rest was just the inconvenience of a producer.

Jan 13, on the spot fine of £60. Police said it wasn't an endorsable offence Female copper made a right mess of the paperwork and gave me the wrong copy so just paid the £60 over the phone.

I got caught by an ANPR car btw, with the MOT 5 weeks out of date on the car, tax and insurance all okay.

Price might have gone up with the other recentchanges but as everyone else said.

'Can' invalidate your insurance but I think the general consensus is it's unlikely to be done for that, I know coppers that happily drive round without MOT.

Should be stricter in my opinion,it's a test as to how roadworthy your vehicle is - why it seems to be taken less seriously then tax I don't know ...(well I do)

It does, for that one hour on that one day. That's the flaw in it IMO.

Phil's right here...

Legally they must still compensate a third party in all circumstances and that covers the requirements of the Road Traffic Act

However the most likely outcome, provided the lack of MOT wasn't directly related to the cause of the accident, is that they would reduce your payout to the value of the same bike without MOT. If it had been something like an undeclared conviction they would also charge the difference between the premium you paid and the premium you should have paid...

Your insurance is not invalidated, but after the fact, your insurer can possibly refuse to provide payout for your losses, and/or reclaim losses to a third party from you. Again, very unlikely unless no MOT meant something was badly wrong with the bike and it caused the accident.

Having no MOT does not in itself make a vehicle unroadworthy, if your vehicle was unroadworthy the police might choose to bring charges against you, otherwise, if they even find out, it would probably be the usual unendorsable fixed penalty

And the answer from reality, it's £60, no points. I've never heard or dealt with a job where insurance was invalidated. More often than not, it's words of advice. MOT's are only worth the paper it's printed on the day it was issued.
