Default Brake Lights stuck on ?

Got home from work tonight to find that my brake lights are stuck in the 'on' position
Tried the obvious, ie. fiddled with the front/rear brake levers, but nothing seems amiss.
Anyone got any ideas

I suspect the most likely culprit is the switch on the rear lever.
On most bikes there is a rod from the back of the lever into a switch, if this gets mucky or becomes detached it could stay on or never come on.
Other than that, a broken switch, maybe.

Just what I thought. On the K3 it's behind the kickplate on the right hand footpeg assembly.
I had he same thing happen ages ago, come to think of it. I think the best bet is probably to hose down behind the kickplate, let it dry & then douse the area with WD40.

There is a spring that goes from the switch to thr brake pedal, if that helps to find it... There is also one from the pedal to the inside of the frame on the same side, so it's the one that has a plastic thingumy-bob on the end of it!!

Same thing happens to me....get flickering happening too. Think it must be the rear brake pedal, coz the front lever is much more positve in getting the light to come on. But mine hasn't stuck to the on position yet!

Mine did this on my GPZ. As a temp fix to get home I just had to madly move the rear lever up and down with my hand to free it.

When I got home I doused in WD40 and it worked fine.

This happened to me om Monday, a good spray of wd40 ( around the springs, pedal and the whole area where there is any joints) at lunchtime and it was working fine on the way home and still is.

Cheers guys
I am indebeted to your knowledge. A couple of good squirts of WD40 and everything was OK. I think I'll carry a small can of WD40 with me from now on

Bump!

I've had the same problem i.e. brake light stuck on and sprayed it generously with WD40....all to no avail. Also, it wasn't that mucky either.

When the bike is off and I pull the front brake I can hear a definate click. Is that the switch? If so, I don't hear on when depressing the rear brake lever. Broken switch maybe? Any advice on fixing it would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

edit - "rear" brake light?

I carry chain lube, wd40, gaffer tape, full set of allen key, assorted spanners and sockets in my top box...

never know when you need them... as I found out after getting the SV back on the road. fuel cap had rusted inside and had to buy a can of wd40 to get it open to refuel. always have them to hand now
