Take rear seat off and unplug ECU. Can't run if it isnt fed. Cant get to it without a key.

Under the right hand bodywork at the rear of the curvy 650 bikes, to the right of the riders seat, there is a loopback plug which is connected to the starter system, I'm not sure if it's there on the 400, or why it's there, although I'd guess it's for part of the starter lockout system not fitted to UK bikes. If you were cut the loop, extend the wiring and put a switch under the seat for instance, you'd easily have a cut out switch.

I've used this connection when fitting an alarm to a number of SVs for the starter immobiliser, it's made for the job and doesn't require you to strip the loom apart.
