I have a Pointy K4 with Blueflame full system. I have just ordered K&N filters which will be fitted when I have the 4000 miles service. I was wondering whether it is worth having a TRE or PC fitted. From what I read/heard they range from well worth it to not worth it at all

TRE and PCIII are 2 different products doing 2 different things.
TRE mode will change the fueling in low gears. This mode costs between 0 - £50 depending whether you make one yourself or buy a pre-made mod. PCIII will adjust and improve your fuelling based on a set "map" used to define the amount of fuel at each rev range, and gear. PCIII will make the bike feel smoother, and reduce any flat spots (usually around 5k revs). typically PCIII's cost around £200, Maps are available on the net, so you could run one map for commuting and another for track days, if you had a laptop to download the new maps to the device. I dont have either, but I did get my bike remapped on a Yoshi Box, which is a crude map basied on fuel %, and I am happy with the performance. |

If you go PC111 get it mapped to suit the bike by a 250> dyno centre as the maps do vary bike to bike and anyone can upload a map to the site so it is difficult to know its origin.
Once the maps right there is no need for changing it for different uses as the object of the PC111 is to get correct fuelling throughout the rev range, different maps are only really required when you either have a high tune that requires extreme ignition/fuelling changes or you regularly swap from road to race exhaust cans. There are some really bad maps about with odd numbers in some places. Try:- PDQ in maidenhead 01628-667644 or SDC performance in stevenage 01438-357777 |
