Default I've finally bought an SV650..... Nearly.

After two years of hard saving i've finally bought an SV650.

It's a silver 2003 (half-faired) one with a high level Carbon Can Co exhaust (exactly like the picture below), except mines got two exhaust ports at the end of the can(or whatever they're called).

(This pic isn't my bike, this is from the photos section, just incase someone says "Oi, that's mine!!")

I payed £2850 for it, it's got just over 5000 on the clock, never been in the rain and it looks it too.
Both the father and son I bought it off are both into bikes and I can tell it's been well cared for, full service histor and all the trimmings etc.

I'll tell you what though, those CCC exhausts are amazing and 'by jove mrs' they're LOUD and that was with the baffles in
I started giggling like a manic when I heard the bike fire up and i'm not exaggerating(sp?)

When me mate got back from test riding it the look on his face was ------> and i'm being serious. (Im sure all you SV owners know the feeling very well).
The look on his face was enough to tell me I should buy it, so I did.
Me mates owned ZX10's, ZZR's etc and is no stranger to speed, so if the bike did that to his expression then, nuff said really.

Not picking it up until Thurs/Fri as he's kindly putting it through it's first MOT for me (nice chap).
But that's good for me because i've gotta make a double gate in the house to fit it in and it'll give me time to recieve all the security stuff I ordered off the net:
2 Thatcham approved disc-locks, one £90 Thatcham approved chain and lock, a £50 solid s/steel ground anchor and an Oxford Stormex cover (should be enough for now).

Gonna nip out tomorrow and get a load of polish and stuff to give it the obligatory post-purchase cleaning when I pick it up (not that it needs one mind).

I can't believe i'm the owner of an SV650, i'm all hyper and times all gone slow (Wish it was Thursday).
Keep gettin butterflies in me stomach everytime I think i'm now the owner of an SV (feels like i've won the lottery).

Only thing now is to pass my test
Already done my theory and CBT and start my 'four and a half day' DAS next wednesday then the 'big one' on the 21st. (god I hope I pass).

Right, i'm off to read the .Org forum and look at pictures of SV's until it's thursday.

<------ Me!

hehe that just made me smile reading that! I had a big grin when I test-rode mine, its just got lovely low-down grunt and seems to pull you forward at really low revs. I love it!

Now you seem like a nice guy, and all ready and excited and prepared, so please please please be careful riding it! Its so tempting to go nuts on it, but remember just how sad (or dead) you will be if you fall off!

Now forget about crashing and enjoy it and good luck on the test!

Reading this reminded me of exactly how I felt just under a year ago (OMG how time flies!). I'd done exactly the same thing, bought the bike before even starting the DAS, and had to go through the agonys of having it sit in the garden staring at me. Funnily enough my bikes in the fastest colour too, just the same as your's

A year down the line I've spent a fair bit of money on her (In bits and petrol :P ), come off her once ( ), and covered 7,500 miles in most types of weather in appropriate and inappropriate clothing, and I'm loving her just as much today as I did the first time I rode her.

I'm sure you'll have a great time riding on your new toy Don't worry about the training too much, it'll all come in time, and don't sweat the U turns, the test may be the last time you do one properly :P

Rigor

P.S. Just remembered the first though I had when pulling away on my SV after learning on a CB500 .... "Eek! The mirrors don't move when I steer!!" :P

Your long posts that bubble with excitement are brilliant! Memories....I remember bugging my friend loads so she would drive me to the dealer to collect my SV. Was wobbling after 2 years of not being on a bike, stalled it at a roundabout with my friend following me , but it was great!!

I'll heed that advice well.
After all the time saving up, getting prepared, dreaming about getting this far it'd be stupid just to throw it all away with a simple 'twist of the wrist'.
I mean, when I pass my test and finaly get to ride it, all it'd take is 'two' speeding fines within two years and I'd lose my licence, and lose everything I'd saved hard for.
It's just not worth it is it?!

Yeah they do look well in silver, me dad keeps singing Hawkwinds 'Silver Machine' when he's around me...... Makes me cringe.
Like you, i'm gonna get around to adding a few mods to mine also, cowl and undertray etc.
The only mods on my bike at the mo are the CCC can and a Suzuki sticker on the swingarm other than that its completley standard, so I've got pretty much a blank canvas to work with.

Cheers 'mate' *cough*

When my mate test rode it for me and had not long left the driveway of the house, myself the owner and his dad were stood there chatting when we heard a massive screeching of tyres.
I just closed my eye's, went cold (thinking the worst) and said to myself "oh god, please no!".
Turned around to find it was just a people carrier turning into a side road a bit too quick and my mate was already miles away by then.
It's safe to say my ar*e went.
