Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and i'm currently on the hunt for an SV. Due to the way insurance is in Ireland I have to get a factory restricted model (with certificate) to qualify for insurance I can afford. Its virtually impossible to find one of these bikes in Ireland so I've had to turn to the UK market. Does anyone know of any bikes like this that are for sale. Unfortunately I can only afford to pay £2500 but I'm sure could muster up more if it was the greatest machine yet to grace the planet... which I think SVs are anyways. I'd really appreciate if you guys could help me out. Or even just give me pointers on how to identify the restricted model in adds. I believe there is a U in the model name if its restricted? Cheers, Niall |

Hi,
You could buy a cheap unrestricted SV 1999 - 2002 (£1500-£200) (CURVY) model and then buy the restictor kit seperately (£30-£80). Then get your garage to fit it and give you a certificate to prove it has been restricted. As for buying them restricted, you will hardly come accross one, as people get them at 17 (say) and then get rid of the kits. Hunt ebay for SV650 and restrictor (used) kit should come up. If you are looking to get a newer model 2003 - 2006 (Pointy) then it is a bit more expenisve as you will have to buy a restricted ECU (Brain). Good luck! Welcome to the forum! ![]() |
