Default Bar End Weight Screws

I Could do with replacing my bar end weight screws. When I removed the bar end weights recently, the phillips screws that secure the weight to the handlebar were so tight that the screw ends nearly chewed up. So, replacing them with new bolts with allen key ends is what I'd like to do. Thing is, do they exist ? Anybody done this ?

Trouble is on the curvy the screws are countersunk, so to get Allen key replacements would mean the key you would use to tighten them up is small, so not sure you'd get the neccessary leverage. The originals are tight cos I assume they are loctited in. So try new bolts without the loctite. You'll have to keep an eye on them though and regularly nip them up. Or buy stainless replacement bar ends, they generally come with allen bolts.

If you are gonna replace them, I think these look really good on my bike;

Not the cheapest in the world, but what the heck!

Hey Banus, I can replace them I think they are 50 or 60mm long can you remind me. The thing is I only have stainless c'sunk screws which might look odd on the black bar ends. I do have complete bar ends with cap head screws stainless for sale.

Let me know, I can help either way.

Seem to remember somebody polishing up their OEM bar ends, then those screws would look fine.

Woh my mistake. I can't get any countersunk screws that long with an allen drive. Besides I think the head diameter on the hex recessed screws are larger than the phillips drive and would not sit flush with the bar ends. I'll check to night. Anyway I only have max 30mm long screws.

I had the same problem with the throttle side screw and nearly had to hacksaw the entire bar end off to replace with my stainless ones.

Yeh that would do unless like I say the screws head diameter is too big to sit flush... will check though.

Thanks all for your very enthusiastic input on this one
Petevtwin650 - yes it was me that polished up my bar end weights and very nice they look too and a damn sight cheeper than replacing them - but BluePete, those R&G's do look cool.
I've now sorted it by going to a local fastener / machine tool stockist and replacing like with like.........Cheers all
