Default Isle of man TT 100 years

I was just reading through this
http://www.iomtt.com/
probably one of the most interesting sites i have read on road racing with it being the 100th year its being going on i would love to actually be there, but i heard you cant just pack up and go out there for the race's
Id like it if people ( if anyone ) has ever been, can let me know what the whole expierence is like in the past it really must be amazing
and what the hell is Mad sunday????
because bennets are insuring people just for that???
it must be amazing if people from all over the world pack themselves on a tiny island for two weeks Racing heaven

As far as I understand Mad Sunday is when the mountain section of the track is open to anyone with no speed limits. I've not been tot he TT since I was 5 or 6 years old but would love to get there in the next few years.

The mountain (and other sections of the IOM) permanently have no speed limits - they do however have very strictly enforced limits in the towns and villages.

Mad Sunday is pretty much that - mad. Last time we went we just got parked up and watched all the loonies.

You can't just packup and go due the the expanse of water between the UK and the IOM - ferry tickets and accomodation are usually booked a year in advance and would be practically impossible to pickup now - other than last min cancellations.

It is a fantastic experience, I'm only going this year as a friend was landed witha spare ticket as someone dropped out. I'm really looking forward to it, and counting down the days.

Mad sunday is when the circuit is opened up for everyone to take a spin around it.Certain sections are oneway only were you can really go for it using the whole road. Never tried on a bike because the last time i was there i did not have the test.
Can't get this year no where to stay.
It was the best few days craic the missus and me have ever had at bike racing everyone is so friendly.
