Went to see Gary Moore at Folkestone last night. Man that guy can play the
guitar. Makes Eric Clapton look like he has just picked up the instrument. As a lot of guys on here are into their 'Rock' , just wondered who your 'six string' heroes are and why. ![]() |

Jimi Hendrix - could do things with a guitar that no one else could or can; one of the fewr musicians whose cover versions were better than the original e.g. All Along the Watchtower.
Richard Thompson - mastered a whole range of styles and has kept devloping over nearly a 40 yearr career. BB King - one of the legends whose blue guitar work laid down foundations for everone else to follow. |

Well there's Mr Hendrix who has to be there or there abouts.
Having said that I remember seeing Gary Moore play in Folkestone several times back in the 70s both with Thin Lizzy and his own band. Can't remember their name but the 70s was like the 60s only more so.(If you can remember much you weren't there.) Does Gary live in Folkestone?

Frank Zappa for me, even though he used other guitarists on tour and album including Steve Vai

Zappa rocks..wasn't vai his aprentice at some point?
Theres so many great guitarists to choose from. We have so much music to choose from that it takes an hour to decide what to listen to. I really like the old blues giutarists..the sit on your porch and play stuff that Clapton and the like stemmed from. Theres a track called maggot brain by Funkadelic that I have tried to perfect for a while now, that sticks in my mind as a favourite. Also I like new talent, we live near a pub called the puzzle hall which boasts to have had various well known jazz and blues musicians play there
