Hi folks,
Been a long time since I was last here but hoping you will forgive me and help me out. I came to start the SV (99 Curvy - no real mods) last night but got no luck. Have tried to jumpstart it today and it runs when connected to another battery but as soon as I remove the jumper cables, the bike stops dead. When the key is in the ''on" position, there are no lights or anything. This is a very generic question - but is it the battery? Called AA but apparently they won't come to sort me out unless I pay them another 60 quid. A new battery will also cost 60 quid but if I don't have to pay that, I don't want to. Also, can anyone recommend a good service near Hanger Lane. I used to go to Pure Bikes but apparently they are no longer with us. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Kourosh |

Sounds like your battery is dead, go buy a new one.

Presumably you have tried removing the battery, charging it and trying again?

Have a look at your fluid levels and top it up with de-mineralised water before trying to charge it up.
Well worth trying to charge it if a new one's 60 quid. Ring alternative suppliers though as that really does seem excessive. |

I'm no expert but if it is the battery the Optimate III SP battery conditioner says it will recover 'dead' batteries by desulph..somethingy them, you can get one of these for £40 and if it works you can then leave your bike on charge when you are not using it for long periods to save the battery.

All sorted now folks. Quick trip to Suzuki Spares and a new battery for 50 quid seems to have done the job. Thanks for all of your quick help.!!
Have a good weekend. |

Also you should put the battery on a batter tender when not using it for a long period of time. That tops of the battery for the long un ridable winter. Do a search on battery tenders. A great investment.

The battery is needed for the inital start once running the generator does the rest!

I have a nice little battery tender, and I leave it plugged in...and it saves the need to have all the hassle of new batteries, recharging...keeps her ticking over nicely! Defo worth the money too - something like £24 from Hein Gericke (although Im sure ebay would come up with cheaper goods)
