Hi Kwak
Im thinking of upgrading to the SV 1000 from my current zzr 600, but I was just wondering how people regard it, in other words the SV 650 has a good rep does the 1000 have the same rep. Just trying to get a bit of feedback basically.

i just typed a load of stuff out for you stewie but the site keeps timing me out and i have to log in again and loose all my text here goes again in small bites,

the sv1000 is lumpy as hell, its supposed to be its a big twin have you rode the sv650? your current zzr6 will feel like an electric turbine compared to the big sv the biggest noticeable diff is the power at 80-90 mph the 650 starts to get abit bogged down where as the 1000 will pull harder than your zzr6.

my thou handled like a demented pig when i got her but slowly i'm learning how to tame her, you cant (i cant) throw it around like the 650, my 650 k3 was sharp in the corners where as the 1000 likes big sweeping bends.
the best thing about the sv1000 is there is some great bargains to be had.

SV1000 is a great bike, loads of grunt, goes like stink in any gear, needs to be 'muscled' into corners, but once there it holds a line better than a 650 due to better supension and a bit more weight.

Have to say I havent ridden the 650, long story, but I just had a look at the 1000 the other day and thought mmmm looks nice, Id heard about it not being so nimble and of course being heavier its gonna take a bit more input, its gonna be next year now unfrtunately, another long story, but thanks to all who posted back.
Cheers

I swapped my superfast blue curvy for a SV1000S with a fancy paintjob. The 650 is certainly more flickable and forgiving than the SV but all that goes out of the window as you open the big twin up. It rives your arms out of the sockets at about 90mph and makes me smile more.

The suspension and brakes are so much better and the bike is physically bigger and heavier.

Take a test ride but it will take a few days to get use to it.

I too would have another 650S but would not swap the Thou for it
