Default Help, no rear spark... no AR

In a continuation from this thread I have been working on Helga most of today, mainly to get her ready for the AR but also to find out why the hell I have no rear cylinder spark.

Now this is what I have done so far...
  1. Replaced the spark plugs and tested them for a spark on my other SV.
  2. Tested and swapped the coils from the other SV.
  3. Swapped the CDI from the other SV.
  4. Tested the voltage from the front coil, ignition on 10v dropping to 8v when engine is turned over.
  5. Tested the voltage from the rear coil, ignition on 12v increasing to 14v when the engine is turned over.
  6. Tested the green and white/blue wires in to the CDI as discribed in my manual which states there should be 3v or more, I'm only getting .03. It states that this is a failed signal generator, but as Sid pointed out to me if this is the case then why is the front plug sparking.
So I've run out of ideas, and now I'm testing the wiring as per Sids advice but I need some more pointing incase this fails too.

Plus I would like to say if this don't get sorted I ain't coming to the AR

Broken / damaged HT lead? Have you tried swapping it with one from the other SV?

OK, rain has stopped play and now I'm not getting any spark anywhere. Back to the manual.

I would but its not ready yet, yes its running but it has no MOT or tax. Plus it needs another week of work to get it to riding standard.

Well it looks like now I have no sparks anywhere so it looks more and more like its the signal generator, which in turn I will need me to drop all the oil out of the SV (the signal generator is behind the alternator cover). Now I want to be sure of this as if I use the spare I'm going to have to drop the oil out of both SVs.

You don't need to drop the oil out, if you have the bike upright - on a stand for instance, a bit will spill but you'll only require a top up when you're done.
Alternatively lay it on the grass/a blanket/etc and none will be lost.
