Hmm, its still too far away to comment I hope, usually weather reports oscillate a lot.

They certainly do on metcheck. Don't get hung up on it. I try to force myself not to look nowadays so it doesn't get my hopes up-or down for that matter.

Yippee 5 days to go!
:D

Sunny weather would be nice, a little drizzle ok but riding in the P***ng rain that's not fun!

In terms of grip, I think drizzle is worse than p***ng rain....

Pah rain and the fact that I have to ride the pointy! all because I can't get the RHS footrest off and replace with another that has a an exhaust mounting point and then get the damn thing MOT'd. Anyone know any "While you wait MOT places"? in the Herts/Bucks area that I could go to tomorrow

FG1
12-06-08, 08:59 PM
Theres one in Hayes or at least near me, I will check exactly. My mate got his mot from there and it was a turn up and wait your turn sort of affair. I'll ring him to get the details.

FG1
12-06-08, 09:06 PM
Just rang him and the garage is "Punters" It is just off West Drayton Road near Uxbridge Road in Hayes.
Possibly a bit of a trek too far but worth considering if you get really desperate.

StreetHawk
12-06-08, 10:26 PM
There is one in Slough but I can't remember the name, it's near Berkshire Motorcyles on the Farnham Road, i've rung them before and they said just bring your bike in , no need for booking.

Devil Biccy
13-06-08, 11:48 AM
Thanks to Tony (FG1) got the Curvy MOT'd with the Stubby on at Punters in Hillingdon. first drive-in MOT place I've been to. So it will be the Curvy on the track yeeeeehaaaa. Now all I have to do is try and fit the panniers! otherwise it'll be the Rack on the back

I have packed.

Small gas cooker, kettle, cups, coffee, tea, water.

Various tools including and in no particular order:

Abba stand, spanners, hammers, sockets, torque wrench, breaker bar, tap and die kit, impact screwdriver, screwdrivers, drill bits and drill.

Oil, brake fluid, grease, tie wraps, gaffa tape, puncture repair kit, spare levers.

A few other things that I have forgotten about too.

I thought about bringing the spare fuel tank, wheels and body faring. But I forgot I need to fit the kids in the car as well.

I may not be there.

Nathan is showing rather alarming signs of meningitis so Jo has whipped him down to A&E.

It could just be a reaction from the antibiotics he is on at the moment but better to be safe than sorry.

Change of plan.

Jo and Nathan will be leaving shortly. Meg and I will be playing catch up and then stick with the car (sort of).

I assume you lot will be doing pretty much the same route as us. A34/A45/A43.

If so and you pass either Jo and Nathan (Red V reg Renault Laguna) or Me and Meg, give us a wave. :smt039

Huge thanks to Camp Ape, it was great having food and drink and support on hand. And mega thanks to Si for lending me his leather, without which I couldn't have done the track day.

Can't think what else to say. Can't wait for the AR08, drikning and camping with the gang again will be ace! Lets see if I can get some photos up.

Guys - your all fantastic.

The track day was ace but so was the comradery. Had an awsume time and like everyone else I am now knackered. All I want is a hot shower/bath but alas my bath is leaking [add many swear words here].

I probably wont see any of you for a while as I am on holiday next week and then away on business the week after. I should be attending the AR08 so might see a few of you there!

Jon

PS - those of you with photos and video feel free to email the real photos to me and I will put them on disk for everyone so that everyone has the full resolution versions. If you have too many to email then let me know as I can create a link to your PC so that I can download them directly (probably over night would be best). PM me for details.

Nice pics!

It was a great day out and although my bikes a bit battered it was a good learning experience much better done on a track then a road. Good to see you all. Especially the ones I hadn't met before. Its always better to have actually meet the peeps you speak to on forums. I'll try and get out on a few more rides with you lot before the summer has passed and even maybe a make the journey to the Shire one Tuesday.

Did anyone else notice the fast and the inters got one more go more than us? I know our last go was 20 minutes long, but think it was bit cheeky...

Yup I did. I'm quite sure they used the novices to make up lost time to ensure the other groups got the full 7 sessions. More than a cheek when you consider we had already lost a whole session.

monkey
17-06-08, 07:37 PM
I didn't notice but now you mention it. I wasn't very impressed by the way they ran it to be honest. One session less, one ended after a red flag on the first lap and the instructor farting about on the sighting laps. They also seemed to red flag every off which wasn't needed.

That said it was a blinding day!
:D

Trip to Warwick afterwards was good and as well as luggage for the Trumpet I got a brake light thrown in for free and a cup of tea.

Dan_UK
17-06-08, 07:59 PM
Think it was about 3:50pm when we started our 20 minute session.

So really it would of been fairer to give before novice groups there full 15 minutes, take us to 4:20pm. Then give all 4 groups a 10 minute session.

Agreed.. Some things could have been done better. Why did they red flag each session when someone left the track? Surely it should have been a yellow. If the rider is ok and the bike is in the litter or on the grass then they could wait till the session is over and then retrieve the bike. Fair enough, if the rider is hurt then stop the session and get the ambulance out.

They tend to make a judgement on a case by case basis, if a bikes gone off into the litter, then another bike could come off at the same place and cause a worse accident than needed. They'll really only leave a rider out there if they're in a totally safe place.

There's good deal for Cadwell with FE at the moment - 25th Sept £59

Cadwell's always reasonable, especially considering it's such a mad track. Seems the further North you go the cheaper they are. We can all camp in my parents back garden!

I'd definately be up for a Cadwell this year to beat away the demons. First trackday was at Cadwell along with my first off.

Spoke to my mate today. He's booked up Brands GP. £215!! Not blooming likely.

Did Lydden last year it's a great small track just over a mile long with mostly right handers and 1 left hander. You can see the whole track from one vantage point. Bit of a distance as its only 12 miles from Dover!

might be cheaper to get a set of calipers off fleabay and strip them Si? Piston kits aren't cheap (as I'm sure you know already). Guess thew SV only has 2 pistons per caliper but even so...
