Highroadwell. (a couple of roads down from Norton Tower) The problem is, that although my road is gritted, as there is a lorry loading bay at the end, its where my bikes are kept. Never in a million years would i risk getting it them out...so snowed in so to speak. Our street has a single track gritted. The main road from where my street comes off is clear, but the road other side of the junction is just snow frozen solid. I find it odd as I'd have thought after gritting ours they'd go straight across to grit the other.
Like I said i have to get the bikes round four house before I can even hit a road, so theres really no point. I aren't digging everbody elses!

I know what you mean. I aren't digging the 200 or so yards to the road clear, so the car isn't going anywhere, and unless the car is moved, nor is the bike...

It's snowing heavily again over here. I just gave my work a bell to say that I'll need a lift because I don't think I'll make it on the bike. The boss turned round and said that the chances of anyone getting to me is slim. One of the blokes had problems in his car and he is 5 miles away, the boss is only 2 miles away had just as much of an issue. So thanks to the snow I get a 4 day weekend in total. 'Appy days. :)

I wouldn't take my bike out in this. The roads are white with salt even thought there has only been a few flakes of snow

I know you've got 60% less grip on gritted/salty roads let alone the ice and snow. Got back and my down pipe was white..meh.

If you don't need the salt then we could do with some. The ba$tards don't bother to salt our roads until they see the snow and ice on the ground!! Too busy drinking cider and wassailing i think!! ;)

They just waste the salt here. I saw them 3 or 4 mornings in a row salting the pavements again even though the stuff from yesterday is still sitting there! They don't even try to spread it over the width of the pavement, they just go over the exact same spot. And I wasn't kidding about the roads being white

It's all about quality not quantity the snow here is about 6-8 inches deep but you can't do owt with it. tried to make and igloo the other night and it just powdered away.

you need to build one of these, more suited to this sort of snow than an igloo

Grrr it's just gone a put a light dusting down over here. So frustrating as the roads had just got to the point of being safe for me to ride tomorrow. This light dusting just increases the risk of my ride to work tomorrow. :smt072

I was out running earlier and saw a quad bike towing and spreading a trailer full of rock salt. Didn't know the council had quads.

No snow here now, all melted, but very very cold and the mel****er has turned to ice.

I was up in the hills today on the pushbike again, absolutely fantastic... Got some fresh snow fall as well, which is ideal as it's nice and soft to fall off into.

The best bit was, after riding 20 miles on snow and ice, I found an old boy trying to take his dog for a walk on one of the icy paths. "Watch out son", he says, "The bloody council haven't gritted it". It's an earth footpath up a hill in the middle of nowhere, about 4 miles from any tarmac! Maybe they could attach grit dispensers to the backs of ramblers, or something.

Got a bit stuck at times

My parents pay one of the top bands of CTax in HX....for their contribution they got precisely no gritters at all this week, and its quite a densely populated residential area too, so there shouldn't be any arguements with it. Unfortunately Reg the next door neighbour, whos in his 80s, went off for the morning paper yesterday, only to slip and fall, on the bottle ice. He must have banged his head or something because he couldn't remember where he was, or where he lived...and hes a cool old biker dood with all his own marbles in tact. Fortunately it was concusion and he didn't didn't break anything.
I pay the least amount of Ctax and I've seen the gritter around four times today, and ones just gone past again. My dad said to me on the phone there never used to be a problem years ago because my godfather used to do the gritting and he always kept the roads clear round my parents house. Not anymore it seems.
