20 pages in I decide to join the fray.

My own experience of the large age gap is fairly recent. Some of you may remember the young lass who turned up at Silverstone to give me a hand last March. That was my ex-girlfriend and still one of my best mates. When I first started seeing her she was just turned 20, and I was 44. The age gap didn't bother us one bit, but it bothered alot of other people who gave us an almighty amount of stick about it. They didn't consider the fact that my ex (we'll call her T from now on) was an extremely mature person who knew exactly what she was doing when we started dating. Her mother was fine with it, despite me being 4 years older than her husband.

We split up because T needed to live a little more before getting settled down with someone of my age. We had friends who supported us, but ultimately they were my friends and that much older than T, so she was in danger of becoming older than her years. I didn't want to see that happen, so in the spirit of the old song lyrics "If you love someone, let them go" we ended it.

T s now happily married to a guy a few months younger than herself and i'm still best of friends with her.

Recently I started seeing a woman 15 years younger than myself, is this wrong, or is 32 deemed too young for a 47 year old?

Back to the OP's question - I do think that a relationship between a 14 year old girl and an 18 year old guy is on dodgy ground. While I don't have a problem with the age gap, there is always the temptation for an 18 yr old lad to lead the girl astray, which as well as being illegal is highly immoral. I wouldn't have been too happy about any of my three daughters dating that much older than themselves when they were that age, but now they are 17, 20 and 28 it's up to them to make their own more mature minds up. As long as the guys they choose treat them with respect I don't have a problem with it. In a slightly hypocritical twist to this, my 16 year old son was seeing an 18 year old friend of his sister for a while, and she would pick him up from school in her mum's Audi A3. I haven't a clue what went on behind closed doors but I'll bet he was given a bit of an education. I don't have a problem with this because 15 year old boys are generally a little bit tougher (ok, I meant insensitive) emotionally when it comes to this sort of thing.
