Things are looking good Hovis.:D

So by my calculation you have 15 peeps who've paid 30 quid for the two nights making £450 and the Bunkhouse was £200 a night exclusive use making £400, Therefore there's a £50 kitty for tea, coffee, sugar, bikkies etc. Plus maybe another 30 quid to add to that. Is that correct?

when i worked out the prices, i had 16 people intrested, so based the price on that, and its a £1 a night for a towel

petevtwin650
18-08-09, 09:23 AM
Hovis, I appreciate that not everybody has paid, but it's a way off yet and I'm willing to bet that you'll fill it before then.

Must admit, I don't know why once people have put their name down they can't pay for it. It's only 30 quid. Obviously if they're on holiday or waiting until the end of the month that's reasonable.

yeah, i think it will fill aswell, but im just worrying a bit as if it doesnt fill i will be out of pocket, as the price i stated was to fill it, and i tried to keep the costs aslow as poss.

petevtwin650
18-08-09, 09:46 AM
Well the way we've always done these things is, if there's a shortfall on cash at the weekend everybody chips in to make it up. Should not be down to the organiser to carry the financial can. Not fair and would make people think twice before organising another so we all lose out. At the moment you have 360 and you need 400 so it's an extra 3.33 each. But that is worse case scenario isn't it? Stop worrying about the bunkhouse. It'll be fine.:)

fizzwheel
18-08-09, 09:58 AM
I'm happy to chip in a bit extra if theres a shortfall in funds.

hovis
18-08-09, 10:48 AM
got an idea which would save a few quid

not have towels, (do we realy need 16 towels per night?) im happy to bring my own, or even share....i understand some peeps want to travel light,

if you want them then you can sort that out when you get there, which will mean if we fill it, that will be £80 in the kitty

petevtwin650
18-08-09, 10:51 AM
Now I am getting confused.

I want a towel, so does Lissa. 50 quid is more than enough to cover basic neccessities over the two days.

hovis
18-08-09, 10:53 AM

yeah, just ignore me
:salut:

maths is not my strong point

(just thinking if we needed all thoses towels

hovis
18-08-09, 10:56 AM
total if full £480

16 towels x2 nights £32
bunkhouse £400

so thats £48 for the food and drink(not alcohol) kitty
which will probably be lots of meat for the BBQ,

but if you want to bring a towel, it will jjust mean more MEAT lol, ill probably bring a towel, if i can fit it in

It appears maths is not my strong point either. I forgot the 15 quid a night is including a quid for the towel. So only 14 is for the bunkhouse payment. That's what happens when I do things without Lissa to watch over me #-o It'll still be fine though Hovis.

how do you plan to camp with no tent?

Duckboy1989
23-08-09, 09:53 PM
that came out wrong.
as in, i would camp, if it didn't mean carrying a tent! i know what i mean.
Although, it would only be for the journey up there (having a rethink).

hovis
23-08-09, 10:11 PM
ill find out

hovis
24-08-09, 10:32 AM
right, camping is £7pppn (but there is no facilitys, so you would have to share with us in the bunkhouse)

there is also a cottage that sleeps 4 (1 double and 2 singles) this is £60 per night (so if full £15pppn) i would sugest if 4 more want to come, giving the cottage to the pingos, and pete and lissa,

so, tecnicly there is room for 4 more

Kilted Ginger
24-08-09, 10:55 AM
Well quiff & mrs Q, duckboy and myself make 4, so the cottage sounds fine if we are all going. I know folk are still to confirm.
alternatively I am quite happy to bring my tent if there are no spaces in the buknkhouse, its a 3 man so duckboy could kip there if we can dump our gear in the bunkhouse as there wont be room for 2 guys and biking gear. I'm easy and will go with the flow.

hovis
24-08-09, 04:22 PM
sounds like a plan

also, regarding food, there is a shop in the village, but no supermarket for 10 miles, and as we have no cars coming would struggle to do a friday big shop.
the guy at the bunkhouse said its fairly well stocked in the village, so we should be ok. as i was thinking of doing BBQ for both nights, there is pubs in the village, and take aways. so im easy.

Lissa
24-08-09, 04:28 PM
What time would you think to have the BBQ on the Friday night, as we'll not be arriving til 9-ish. Not travelling down until after work. Would stop and eat en route if there was likely to be nothing left at that time.

hovis
24-08-09, 04:57 PM
dunno realy?

i was thinking about lighting it about 7ish? ?
i guess it depends what time peeps are ariving. i thought to leave my house about 1pm? but would be happy to meets peeps on the way?

but im easy, i dont want to be setting times to do stuff, im happy to go with the flow, and do what everyone else wants.

apart from the ride out, that will be run like a nazi camp:smt107

you eat when i tell you to eat
you get petrol when i tell you to, you dont order food at the petrol only stop. and hold everyone up;)

I don't buy food at petrol stops.................it's not real food! :p

The bunkhouse has a kitchen, doesn't it? That means a cooker to fry onions on. Can't have a BBQ without fried onions for your burgers!

i was going to try to leave maybe 2-3ish, getting there 5-6ish, hopefully some of us can ride up together? i know mike_avfc (http://forums.sv650.org/member.php?u=8641) if going from swindon, im nearby as well.

I've started my prayers for sun already.

24-08-09, 07:22 PM
I'm lurking over this without yet committing to attending. If I did I'd camp, I'm just as happy sleeping in a tent as anywhere else. Before reading this thread and seeing the £7pppn at the bunkhouse, I dug up this...

http://www.wyesidecamping.co.uk/

Not too bothered about facilities though TBH, if baby wipe can clean the **** off a babies bum and make it smell fresh afterwards, it'll manage my sweaty armpits!

hovis
24-08-09, 08:20 PM
hi,

yeah thats the campsite i was going to use in aug, but everyone dropped out, ats about 2 miles from our bunkhouse, but is closer to the village.

personaly i would camp at the bunkhouse, just so you can be with the rest of us:kiss:

hovis

Kilted Ginger
25-08-09, 03:06 PM

hovis
25-08-09, 03:15 PM
me

£40 for 2 nights incl brekie, towels and bedding, plus there will be a few quid over for the fri/sat bbq take away or what ever we decide

£30 if you dont want brekie, but the 1st food stop is 2-3 hours from the start

Like I said, I will be coming, If there is a spare space i'll take it, however i wouldn't want someone else not to come as they didn't like camping as i'm happy to do either.
Pm me your details and i'll paypal, then if someone else wants it they can repay me.??

I'm definitely going to attend, but assume for now I'm camping, for the same reasons as KG, I don't want to take a spot from someone who wouldn't come 'cos they don't do canvas. I'll probably take a spot in a B&B or bunkhouse if there's one going spare at the 11th hour.

Duckboy, you can take the spare place as I''m happy to camp and have a tent.

Hovis, if anyone else pulls outI'll fill the space so you wont be left short.

Quiff, when / if you decide you're going you could book the cottage for 4 if you want and myself and ralph (i'm sure) would take the 2 spare places, might be cheaper than B&B for you.

Failing all that i'm happy to camp. May even crash at a friends on the friday and turn up early saturday.

Looking forward to this.

M4 Swindo Area - Mike & Duckboy

We could stay in ones and twos and aim to be at point A on Hovis' map for between 13:00 - 13:30, then we can fuel up and all depart together. Point A looks right off the Motorway so shoudl be a simple case of navigating along the M5 / M4 till that point and then following Hovis to the bunkhouse.

Hovis - if we are coming off the M4 for Point A, which junction do we want as I'm a little unclear after looking at your google map...

Just think this might be a little easier, rather than trying to marshall a bigger group all the way along the M5 / M4 and keep stopping to re-group pick up people etc...

Yep no problem, I dont really know where I'm going either mind :D

I was planning on going up the M5 and then M4 into Wales, so can meet you somewhere in Taunton if thats easiest ?

I'll meet you Junction 25 of M5 if thats ok. Theres a Garage just off the Junction 25 roundabout, Murco i think. Thats my usual meet spot.

So who is heading in from the midlands and the north?

I've got the day off, so could potentially meet anywhere easy to find.
