im thinking of trying again:rolleyes:

this time we would be staying closer to abergaveeny/brecon, so it would be closer to the southerners, and its probably going to be septemer due to the devon weekend at the end of aug

bunkhouse should be around a tenner a night,...... but i need to know how many are coming as to which one to pick

what do you think? intrested? dates?

please feel free to discus

RichT

Sounds good to me Hovie.

I'm a happy camper until the end of Oct time when it starts to get a bit colder. Happy to go with the majority, but you can provisionally count me in. Not sure about 'er indoors - she's back to work in Sept.

the bunkhouse will be £10-£15 pppn (depending on numbers) BARGIN, and i dont think its worth looking into camping at this price....... as sept, could be cold, although it could be schorchio, as well?

i will lookin to camping, if wanted

its basic, but it saves the hassle of camping, has cooking faciltys, dry room and 2 pubs within 2 min walk

more importantly, i need a rough idea of if there is any intrest, and dates

oh dear, not sure if i can make that,

I'll be on the Thames Valley one instead

right, the date is up for discussion, so i will add a poll (or i will get the mighty supermod to add it)

found a few bunkhouses, and it all depends on how many come, but they will be £10-£15 a night, and fairly close to abergavenny.

just a quick update......., the bunk house i want is £14 a night, but includes all bedding (so you dont have to bring sleeping bags), is 3 star, and has great cooking facilitys (not sure we will use them) they also do B&B half board and full board, i have emailed them about food prices, it would be ideal if we could have brekie at the bunkhouse, depending on price, as the first proper food stop is sennybridge 1½ hours into the ride, as im strugerling to find somewhere for "tidy" brekie in the abergavenny area, and sennybridge does a lush brekie for £4, if the brekie is too expensive at the bunkhouse, i plan to do toast, then brekie at sennibridge

there is a pub 20 metters from the bunkhouse that does food and real ale, so the plan is to eat there in the evening

the bunkhouse has 20 beds, so its first come first serve, but there is another bunkhouse 30 metters away (which is a little more expensive)

its full:(

I think we need a "plan B"...

which is?

i was going to just find another,

the next 1 is £15.75 pppn, but includes all bedding towels, and full brekfast, so works out cheaper. oh, and its a pub as well (3star)

or another £10pppn, but no brekfast and you need slepping bags and towls (1 star)

what do you think>

personaly i think its worth £5.75 exta for brekie, bedding and towls......... do you?

mike_avfc
08-08-09, 06:36 PM
yup = 15.75 plus brekkie is a bargain.

Can you do a provisional booking. not sure whether youre thinking of 1 or 2 nights - i'm totally up for staying on the saturday night only - even better thats its a pub.

me too,

but its going to be at a cost,

im thinking £10-£12 for basic. no brekie and bring your own bedding is ok

so i think its worth paying up to £17 maybe £18? pppn if brekie and badding is includded.

i know that sounds expensive, especilay if theres 2 of you, but brekie will cost a fiver at most places, and £3 to ave the hassle of carring a sleeping bag is not to bad

 again, just after peeps thoughts, but TBH im going to just go with whatever i can get,

10-08-09, 11:11 AM
URGENT

right,

i have found this,
http://www.bunkhousesinwales.co.uk/beili_neuadd_bunkhouse.html

its a little futher north than i wanted, but as you can tell, im strugerling to find anything.

its £14pppn,(may workout a bit cheaper if we fill it) brekie is a fiver, bedding is provided

he is ok with bikes, where as 1-2 have said no

the nearest pubs/shopstake aways are in ryader, which is 2½ miles away, (he said 40 min walk) i would think more like 20mins .... he said he does offer to drive peeps there, but would mean a few trips, depending on how many commit to go.......................................... im still waiting for 2-3 to call me back, but im thinking they will be full

alternativly, its camping, in ryader, about £8pppn.... but only 5 min walk to the village

if we want the bunkhouse, im going to be wanting monies ASAP, as i dont want to miss out

what do you want?

Binky
10-08-09, 11:31 AM
Cheers for PM'ing me Hovis. I'd have missed this completely otherwise.

Unfortunately i don't think i will have anywhere near enough money at the time. Too much going on, what with France, The Peaks Revenge and Cadwell Park.

If i do get some money together, would i be able to camp or something? :D

Wideboy

hovis
10-08-09, 12:16 PM
agreed

so for 2 nights thats £28 without brekie

£38 with brekie

towels are £1 per night

(i would advise to get brekie as its about £4 just for a bacon roll at llandovery, and i dont realy want to be farting about looking for cafes in the morning)

time to cough up lol

its an idea.

the bunkhouse i posted above is about the same cost as most

and ticks all the boxes, (biker freindly, does brekie, suplys bedding) the only downside is, that its a bit far to the pub, and its a bit futher north than i wanted

its going to be hard to find one that is perfect, and peeps seem happy with the date, i dont mind phoning around and trying to get somewhere else, but it will be a differant date........ but whats wrong with the one i picked, i dont mean that in a nasty way, i mean what has it not got that you want?, is it too far north, or the fact there is no pub?

just so i know what to look for:kiss:

Nowt, I just got the impression that it wasnt in the general location you wanted or that you werent happy with it...

location does not bother me too much, as i can work the route out from any where

the only downside is, its a bit futher for most of us to get to, and the fact that we would have a bit of a walk to the pub, unless the owner (ho seems very nice) would do a few trips

theres a few to phone back,

and there is 1 or 2 that tick all the boxes, which i will see about other dates, but im happy with the one above........

fizzwheel
10-08-09, 02:43 PM
but im happy with the one above........

Coolio, at the end of the day you are donig all the hardwork and ringing round and sorting this out for the rest of us so if you're happy with the arrangements then stick to what you have planned.

It was just a suggestion in order to maybe relive some of the pressure and ease the hassle of finding us somewhere to kip and get food etc etc.

hovis
10-08-09, 02:54 PM
im having a bit more of a look around.

there is 1 thats perfect (is next to a pub, provides bedding, does brekie) £18pppn which is good value, but it would mean changing the date, IF they are not fully booked.

the main problem withe the first one, is its in the middle of no-where, and would either need takeaway, or a 20min walk at night, as long as its dry, that sounds like fun

Cymraeg_Atodeg

Bit confused, Hovis. It's £200 for sole occupancy, so does that mean it'll be £200 split between however many are coming? If that's the case, you have enough people to cover the £200 already.

Okey dokey, £80 from us will be winging it's way as soon as you pm me your paypal address. We'll have the brekkie and towels option please!

Also, if the Pingu's wouldn't mind sharing with us, maybe the two couples could have the 4 bunk room.

Also, as Crossgates is only 8 miles away, and has the biker friendly cafe and a petrol station, perhaps that would make a good meet point for the day trippers to join us if you haven't already got somewhere in mind?

sun possible trip to aberistwth, then home

as everyone is traveling light, we can either plan to all bring food (which could be fun), or just chuck a fiver each in and get enough food for the week end

can everyone do 120miles on a full tank?

Quite happy to chuck a few quid in for tea, coffee etc, but not to buy beers we won't drink. Sorry, but that seems a tad unfair to us. Maybe people should be responsible for buying their own alcohol, as we would buy soft drinks for ourselves.

fair enough..... i just thought with a fiver a head, would probably be a bit too much, so could spend the rest on pop/beer/crisps/charcol what ever, i did not mean blow the lot on beer, i just thought it would be eaiser all to chip in for food,

oh, and none of us drink and ride, its just nice to relex after a long ride with a cold beer (IMO)

17 litre tank and equivalent mpg to a SV, so 120 miles no problem. The low fuel light might not even have come on.

In diesel mode it's a tad more expensive.:(

Underseat on the trumpet - its so small that a folding toolkit stops the seat clipping down properly.

I hope so. :-( Always either dealing with gf or work or bike. Its crap.

Getting sick of never having enough time.

I've gotta get my tshirt from Hovis at some point. Hoping this week when i've got the bike sorted. Getting the chain done Monday by the looks of it. So then at least i'll be back on bike, just gotta meet up then. Missing it like mad
