All
Whilst still crying and so so so so sad......me and Lily have been talking about all the brilliant memories we have had. So, I wanted to start a thread where people can place their most profound memory of him. Please can I request no quotes, no comments, just memories......plain and simple.
My most profound memory.......AR08.......the now infomous rocking horse. It summed up all that is Hovis. Love you.

Getting seperated from the main pack on North Wales 4 rideout , Hovis was the one that came looking for me and the others and between us all we regrouped in record time , he was like a Shining light of Yellow Goodness in a moment that had turned wrong . He had an inkling of where we were and came after us , I was sat in Betwys-Y-Coed , thinking all was lost , I had a pillion as well . We found Genesismike and sat there wondering what the hell was going on . I heard a pipe being blipped further down Betwys and knew it had to be an ORGer , then the Yellow vision of Hovis appeared .
The memory of him teasing that Bat eared Dog on NW4 as well , I was sure he was gonna get a nip then .
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/xXBADGERXx/Hovis001.jpg
Doing what he did best and that was keeping many people entertained .
The Barmouth or Bust rideout as well , giving me a cheeky blart from his Hindle pipe and a Wheelie as he went past me whilst I taped the arrival from the roadside at the Ponderosa .
A good friend of mine once said "you know the measure of a man by the hole that they leave behind" , Hovis , you left a ruddy great hole wherever you went feller .

My fondest and funniest would have to be the pink elephant ride on the Invasion of the Valleys, and the subsequent telling off we all received!
AR09 - 8.30am Saturday morning, (after his normal conservative night on the booze) Hovis emerges from his tent in just his boxers, little hovis on full view and then the words
"what time is this f**king ride then"
priceless and it scared me for life :D
AR08 - Hovis semi concious on a bar stool, rocking backwards and forwards. This went on for hours and he never bloody fell off !!!!
I cant remember a time before or after that i have laughed so much.

Everything hovis seemed to say or do had a hilarious tinge to it - sure he won't mind being remembered for that at all.
For me the recent peaks rideout stands out, 'Beer time!' is all I need to say.

The balancing of various items, mainly a card tower, on Hovis's head whilst he rocked back and forth on his little stool in the middle of the pub, AR08.
The snorting of vodka at Peaks Revenge rideout just a few weeks ago
Hovis being rugbytackled by Wideboy at AR08.
Hovis sleeping in his bunk at the Peaks while 2 other orgers got their knee down on him and he then suddenly bursting out of his sleeping bag scaring them both ****less :-D
Thinking about it I believe I've only been on 2 rideouts with the fella, but they were both so memorable and without him they probably wouldn't have been half as funny. Neither rideout was in Wales and I was so looking forward to his next Welsh TT. Still so shocked. What a bloke.
AR08.
Quiff had been on the pool table all night.
Hovis deliberately stands right next to the table, just where Quiff wanted to be to take a shot. The conversation went like this:-
Hovis - Am I in your way?
Quiff - Yeah, you are mate.
Hovis - faaaarkin unluckeeee - then turned his back on Quiff and carried on drinking.
Don't often see Quiff completely lost for words, I nearly ****ed myself.

- Our first trackday at llandow 2007 and the first trip to the nurburgring
- Hovis getting told off by a random woman for riding on a kids amusement ride at invasion of the valleys campsite
- At fartfest, I suggested that everyone should strip off to their underwear to do a dance we came up with. Everyone though this was a bad idea minus hovis.
- Getting lost in the car park in one taffia meet.
- Riding with a yellow mcdonald's happy meal baloon I tied to boris last rideout.
- Many more

THAT is my abiding memory of the funny little welsh bread boy..
doesnt seem right we only saw him last weekend.. he was saying what a diamond gruntygiggles was for writing him a letter to get every other Sunday off work.. now has every Sunday off bless him..
I have many but a few that stick,
Hovis break dancing.
And our little saying only we seem to get,
"Are you dancin'?"
"Are you asking?"
"I'm asking!"
"Then i'm dancin'!"
The first time i met you and all you did was take the pi$$ that i was a pillion......the way that you picked my bike up off me when i came off and asked why the f*** had i done that and that drew was going to kill you!..... When we have gone on nights out and after to much you licked my neck.....when we all went to the waterpark in stoke.... our random PM's daily of just a smily conversation.....your dancing at the wedding...
I could go on and i'm sure I'll think of more

thank you for jogging my memory of that, it was truly funny.
the one that came straight to my mind was at AR09 on one of the drunken nights, watching him trying to bounce on the trampoline while very drunk and there then being a mass bundle and the subsequent fallout. being moans, groans and much laughter!

This and the AR08 rocking horse will always be my favourite memories of him too, I physically ached the next day from laughing so much! The rideouts won't be the same without him around, he just loved to have a good time and you couldn't help but have a laugh with him.

He slept in the bunk below me at the Peaks ride-out a month ago.
He didn't snore, but every 1/2 hour as he turned over in his sleep you'd think someone had just planted their boot up a pigs anus at high speed, then he'd let out a few contented snorts and settle back off to sleep for another half hour.

Stopping at storey arms burger van on a ride out from another site... Hovis needed to pee.. so he wandered off, where I saw his head vanish from view quickly... went over to see.. he had slipped next to an embankment while trying to have a pee... and slid down the bottom while half exposed !

he told me last weekend that he never ever drinks at home.. and that he used to be 20 stone ! then I looked at his facebook and seen the pics of him bigger with a ponytail.. doesnt look like the same guy..
too many funny things to think of or list- ever so many on here- just search his name, get a coffee and sit back and laugh ..
he truly was funny, he really loved to play devils advocate and there was not a malicious bone in his body, anyone who hadnt met him, but had read his posts and formed an opinion ? ?? until you met him you wouldnt know what a kind, funny, loving ,friendly, considerate and sometimes even shy bloke he was,

Hovis forever indeed.
So many memories. First, gotta be lapping the Nurburgring with him and Boris II. What a great trip. :D Him trying to clamber into my bed at 1 in the morning while plastered was definately weird too.

Then the whole of his comedic contributions to the Peaks weekend and the AR09 too. Didn't go to AR08, but from what i gather he was just as funny there too. :p

On my stag do, Hovis was his usual drunken self. He did two things that made me laugh that weekend.
1. He decided to breakdance in a club. This involved him lying on his back and us spinning him round.
2. He fell asleep with his head on the pdium in a strip bar.

How was he everywhere!?
his passion and Hobby seemed to be bikes , he went to any meet he could , any rideout , any trip abroad ............ and if they weren`t on he would be tooling about on his trials bikes or razzing about on a mates quad . And inbetween all that he would find time for a Beer with his friends .
Another fond memory was that bloody Digital Camera that he whipped out at the Border Patrol Xmas lunch , that was like some Fisher Price kids camera and the place fell about laughing , he sat there smirking with his Santa hat on and Red nose .

Where to start. I first met him at a Taffia meet at the tredegar arms where he thought I was some weirdo that was groping Stretchie.
AR08 for the bar stool incident, although I thought we were going to lose Viper to a heart attack that night he was laughing that hard.
AR08 for the unforgettable sight of little Hovis on the way to the toilet at stupid o'clock in the morning.
AR08 for having a very deep and meaningful chat on the Sunday, after which we became firm friends.
The many PM's and messages asking for letters to be written and help with various things, always asking me to give Squirrel (the puppy) a cuddle for him!
I have a cuddle for you too mate so I'm sending it up to you now :-)

Drew, i dont need to click those links. I know exactly what they are going to be.
Good times.
I think it was Marches Meander, when me, Hovis & Neio were playing about on the bikes at one point, Hovis coming past me on the back wheel. Until that point, my riding on rideout's had born no reflection on how I ride when there's no other bike around. That day was different, and it was mainly because of Hovis that I'll always remember that ride in particular.
That, and having a laugh with him when we stopped off for food.
Oh, and the countless wind-ups we both shared here on the .Org. :)
EDIT: I think it says something about the man himself in that the "RIP Hovis" thread has only been on the .Org for around 3 hours, and already has almost 1700 views. That, and there's still a lot of people on the .Org at 2am. RIP fella.

I only met him once or twice or maybe more I can't remember. I remember the first time I met this misunderstood guy (correct me if I am wrong but he was threatened with a ban more than once) at Abergavenny bus station and we went for a potter around. We should have met up more but we had continuous entertainment from his aversion to crossing the bridge when he set up the Taffia meets.
I am going to put a :D here because that's what it was like.

I have only known Hovis for a few months, but, he was one of the best people anyone would ever wish to meet.
My memories of Dave range from him trying to wheelie nearly everywhere he went, usually failing and Boris II puffing out much black smoke due to running on Diesel, to him drinking very much, no matter where it was and usually enjoying it the whole time.
In between there are his helpful nature like when he helped me when I had my accident and sorting out the meetings of the South Wales riders every month and camping trips.
I have good memories of Dave and that's how I will remember him whenever I am out on my bike now.

I recall there's a video of that somewhere...
One of our best memories of Hovis was his attempt at trampolining at AR09. It was hilarious... Phil24_7 and I bundled on and bounced him all over the place. Drunk and being bounced all over the place on a trampoline... he didn't stop giggling... you know, that dirty "Hovis" giggle..
Scoobs, Kate Moss and MrsT were in stitches....
And then there's Dunster from the Devon and Somerset GP weekend at the end of August (MrsT, Kate Moss and Diamond bought Hovie a wee birthday present) they also decorated his tent - to which he was most impressed.

I can't believe it.............. very very surreal.
I met Hovis for the 1st time last weekend on a ride out of the Welsh TT, that i only went on buy chance. I'm so glad i did as well. Invited buy a friend (cheers Rob) as there was a spare space at the Bunkhouse i gate crashed and didn't know what to expect.
From the 1st moment i met him at the petrol station in Newport i felt very nervous and with one simple handshake and " I'm Hovis " all the nervous tension evaporated and i knew i was in good hands.
Little did i know that he would show me some, if not the best roads in the UK for the weekend. 1000 sheep road (Elan Valey) dodging sheep at speed. All good fun. The road between Rhayader and Aberystwyth where I followed in hot pursuit. With Hovis in front My life was in his hands. With the fact that i only met him for the 1st time the other day. He gave me confidence in mine and his riding.
I do remember (like sky box on rewind and play over and over again) a section of the road where there are about 5 or 6 really lovely sweeping left and right bends. With my knee on the deck grinding away the sliders all i can see is Hovis in Front with his feet hanging off his pegs like "rabbit ears" grinding his toe nails. And thinking to myself this boy can ride hoops! We stop at the next junction, hops off his bike and walks towards me, flips his visor up and says " Hows that for a sunday morning ride". We then broke out into laughter with what we had just achieved while we waited for everyone else to catch up. That will stay with me forever.
Thankyou Hovis for showing me those magical roads and I'm sure I'll be back out there and riding them like you showed me the only way to. On a mission to head but the horizon.

Phil and Hovis "Human Skittles" at South and West surfers Ride out - Bank Holiday weekend, and them both climbing the rafters to sign on behalf of the org and not forgetting the antics on the trampoline at AR09!
Stopping at storey arms burger van on a ride out from another site... Hovis needed to pee.. so he wandered off, where I saw his head vanish from view quickly... went over to see.. he had slipped next to an embankment while trying to have a pee... and slid down the bottom while half exposed !
Yup
Driving past Sennybridge and him stood there waiting for others to catch up, then asking on here if it was him. He said I should have stopped for a coffee and a chat, until I insulted him by asking if it was his Gixxer behind!
Sorry Hovis!

AR08 - Hovis semi concious on a bar stool, rocking backwards and forwards. This went on for hours and he never bloody fell off !!!!
I cant remember a time before or after that i have laughed so much.

Go on have a look awsome.
Yes I will never forget, you were laughing so much you cried, then I started. We were all laughing for so long we had tears running down our face. So so funny...:smt081
btw why was he called hovis, best thing since sliced bread ? was going to ask him next time I got a chance to see him, he probably would have said yes ;)
it is so rare that when you think of someone all you can do is smile.
Hovis had that impact on me. Every memory lives side by side with a grin, smile, or laughter.
He truly was a one off.
It's been mentioned a couple of times, but the trampoline incident at the AR09 was just genius.
AR09 was the first time I'd met him. He rocked up with my South West Surfers T-shirt and then proceded to model his by shakin' his booty at me. Legend.
The drunken "SHUT IT YOU SLAAAAAG"
RIP bread boy.

This thread has really cheered me up.
First met him after work when he was going out with Lonerider and co from the WRC, I came up to Coryton and he says 'we're going over Brecon' and immediately sets off up the A470 at 100mph and had to stop like five times for me on my (then new) SV to catch up.
After I had my off he went for a **** against a bush in plain view of not just the road but the whole damned valley too. And then as I was getting read to get in the recovery truck he reaches into the long grass and hands me one of my indicators that got smashed off "in case you want to reattach it later" :smt046
Bless, he felt so guilty after every SV on that rideout had some sort of mishap, had to threaten to come and knock some sense into him that it wasn't his fault we were rubbish!
RIP Hovis, we are richer for having known you!

Hey! I was not crap, my bike craped out on me, lol. But, Dave was even sorry about Suzi giving out on me, even though he had nothing to do with her breaking down.
He was so caring and always took it upon himself to make sure everyone was OK.
He was good to have a drink with too. That night in the Con Club in Caerphilly last month will always be in my memory.

Cos he's actually a Yorkshire lad (bless him, someone has to be). And when he moved to Wales he sounded like the lad from the adverts so they called him Hovis. The accent left but the name stuck..

cant believe he's gone, after getting the call i just sat up most of the night shocked. It didn't hit me until this morning after a few phone calls, i had something planned today but i had to come home cos i couldn't stop blubbering :(
i first met Hovis the day after first meeting drew and gid when he pulled up out front of gids house and we rode to AR08, Second time was at calne bike meet with gid then a few weeks later spent another week end with him at drew and lilys where he reversed Boris into my then mint SV and scratched it #-oturned it into a joke a laughed it off and it forged a close friendship and that's how its been ever since, we became close friend outside of the org along with drew, lily, gid and girth and the massive came together......... or was it the special time gang?, i cant remember i think it was Hovie that named it, was only talking to him on Thursday about coming up to see him :(
to many memories and days spent with him to recall all of them were fantastic and some really good times for me personally, he made that day just that extra bit brilliant. Hovis was Hovis in his own unique and special way, i know of no one else like him, in all the time i knew him i only remember him being down once and always laughing and joking and never did he mention a bad word about anyone (except jibbing me and my bike:rolleyes:), he would go out of his way to cheer you up.......... I'm just glad that he passed away doing something that he loved and on a bike that he loved.
just remember people. Life is a very fragile thing, it can be snatched away in an instant. Live each day as it comes, stop petty feuds and tell that person just how you feel..... as sadly in some cases, you may never get another chance to :(
Hovis will forever hold a place firmly locked in my heart as im sure he will with others, it was certainly a pleasure to have met him, spend time with him and been part of his life, im just so sad that it was for only a short time :(, i just hope he knew how much a lot of us really loved him

Playing Ping Pong with him, helmets on. “Safety first” was the motto that weekend.
At the end of the FartFest Boogie, after voling, Hovis on his knees checking that little Hovis is tucked away.
Drinking in Stretchies kitchen, Hovis passes out and falls over. He hits the floor and wakes up, carries on drinking. All without spilling a drop of beer. That wasn’t the last time he would pull that trick.

That reminds me of being in Drew & Lily's car on the way to pick up TLW from hospital after his off, and Hovis telling us about the time he got stopped by the police cos he was driving his car around wearing his lid.
Policeman: "What do you think you're doing then? What's the helmet all about?"
Hovis: "Safety first, officer!"
Viper is right, every memory I have of Hovis is of having a bloody good time!
Hovis - hope you're up to your usual shenanigans wherever you are mate... :D
Still feeling quite shocked today, it was so late last night when I found out that it felt a bit surreal, but the reality started to sink in this morning when I got up for work. :(

a few of the memories:
girth and me prank calling hovis with "trisha on de road!!" and his reaction
me girth and hovis racing go-carts around in stour-port a few weeks back, and on the bumper car with him constantly ramming me (oww eerr :p) and us getting a bollocking
him dancing and singing to Madonna in drew and lilys sitting room
being flung about in the back of his car on the morning of drew and lilys wedding
being propped up in the corner of the pub slightly sozzled at AR08 and him slapping me each time he walked past :p
and the best one for me, being sat in drew and lilys sitting room after not knowing him for long, girth and elsaxo had gone home, drew and lily had gone to bed...... me and hovis sat there pi$$ed up watching the adult channel and posting crap on here..... i just remember the un-controllable fits of laughter and trying to find our way to bed
loads and loads of them...... all of them fantastic! :drink:
Someone once said to me, that after reading his posts people didn't like Hovis, but that changed when only they met him...
I met him only once, a month ago on the Peaks rideout, couldn't stop laughing :)

+1 Well said, the little arguments just dont matter in the big picture.
Hovis is such a funny and genuine bloke. Was always so welcoming and kind to everyone, even org newbies. I feel very blessed to have known him, even tho it was only a little.

+ lots n' lots.
I was in pain laughing at that, I was seriously concerned that I might have a little 'accident' but I still couldn't stop laughing.

"Are you asking?"
"I'm asking!"
"Then i'm dancin'!"

Everything hovis seemed to say or do had a hilarious tinge to it - sure he won't mind being remembered for that at all.
For me the recent peaks rideout stands out, 'Beer time!' is all I need to say.
I' second that, the peaks weekend saturday night social made a big part of that weekend for me. And alot of that was down to Hovis' usual antics which made us all laugh hard and for a long time.
So very sorry to hear this. I didn't know him personally, and I'm undoubtedly a bit of a stranger round these parts now, but I'd certainly heard of him. Yet another needless tragedy and I feel deeply for his family. Reading all the many heartfelt comments clearly show he was pretty OK and much loved. I'm sure he'll be long remembered.

he will be long remembered,
he was a BIG part of the Org, but he wasn't "The Org" , it will go on, as it has done when others have passed: The world will go on, but it will be a little less humorous, a little less argumentative and a lot sadder for the loss of the bread man that's for sure.
