I thought the germans played a bit like england trying to hoof the ball over the top. As they say styles makes fights. I think the german team couldnt cope with aeriel threat and from set pieces.

I was surprised there werent more shots from outside the box as per the other semi final and make the ball do a bit more work.

Now that is what Pele meant when he called football,"the beautiful game."

The problem is, if Spain want be compared to say the way Brazil teams of the past (say 1970,1982 brazil teams) played, they need to come up with the goods.

Spain work the ball well, there's no doubt about that, but they haven't been that entertaining in terms of the way they've created most of their goals. They seem to run out of ideas, and their move breaks down, followed by another period of possession in midfield.

They were the better team against Germany, and I hope they beat Holland as I think Spain deserve the tournament overall, but I had hoped they would have played a bit better up to the final.

One other thing I didn't realise, neither Holland or Spain have ever one the world cup before and whoever does will be the 8th nation to lift the trophy.

Really glad Spain won, been saying they would even before the tournament started. :D

Holland didn't deserve to win. They were a bunch of thugs who should have been down to nine men in the first half.

Well done the Spanish, best team won. Be interesting to see what their odds were after their opening game against Switzerland...

Oh and New Zealand finished the only unbeaten team! Give the cup to them for 6 months

What a terrible shame that a team with so much talent like Holland should view a crude cynical game plan aimed at nullifying Spains "tique.taqa" football as the way to go. They have admitted that they wanted to take the match to penalties as they felt their goalie would save a couple!

The Dutch lost a lot of friends last night I think as such a performance would not normally be associated with the country that brought us "total football."

But hey well done Spain, worthy winners. History makers in being the first country from europe to win the tournament held in another continent and the first team to ever lose their opening game but still go on to win the competition.
