View Full Version : Everybody's current curvys

I quite enjoy seeing what things people have done to their bikes, but I couldn't find a thread of lots of recent pics of bikes, let alone many of curvys!
So if anybody cares to humour me, I'll start:

+1
Did you have to modify that rack to fit?
Really nice curvys there.
And that's a great pic (maviczap), I've been looking for a better angle for a great shot of mine. What I've tried that worked well for my 'blade and ZX9R did not work at all for the curvy. I think it's because the sidestand on the curvy leans the bike over so much more.

I forget who made the rack, its Italian and I won it off Ebay. I'll have a look.
The exhaust is high level Micron header pipes, with a stubby Scorpion end can. The hanger is what the header pipes came with The angle is deceptive, as it's not that different to yours

My first and only bike :D Before my off in March though so it is now minus the lowers and the bodywork is modified with GSXR mirricators. Apart from that, the high level Art can, hugger, and fenda extenda, it's standard

Can anybody advise where to get a high-mount hanger? I DESPERATELY need one! Or even an old one you don't need. Mine is literally the most poop job that works, 3 bits of really thin metal and some bolts.. Sort of embarrassing!
Alpinestarhero, where did you get your super-amazing hand guards from?
Allan, I got mine with the link pipe off ebay but you should try contacting the main can makers i.e. Scorpion etc. If you have no luck I could make a template of mine for you to get one made from. It's not a complicated bracket and wouldn't be that difficult to knock up from 2/3mm steel. Mine just bolts onto the pillion hangar bracket with a couple of spacers to push the peg out far enough to not foul the can.
allantheboss
02-01-10, 10:32 PM
Thats cool, I will try that! But I bet they charge £5000000 for it. My can is also quite short, and hangs under the metal bungee bar things on the undertray, so unless it's a long version of what yours is like, I will need one that hooks to the undertray or summin'

5913
Shes looking a bit grubby here cos ive just got back from a ride and i needed to get the pic taken before it got dark, but she is well cared for and usually gleaming. Usual mods include dbl bbl screen, fuel can and exhaust hanger, and shes just had full service, c&s and tyres, and quite happy to be riding out through the winter cos shes got a silver curvy in the garage to snuggle up to at night!!
I think she's in pretty good shape for her 36k miles (6k with me since july) and as you can see im not a natural blonde (black muff ;-))
I really love my yellow one (I'll dig a pic out) but they look sooo nice in red, natural or not :D

mine today, I'm glad my tank had a hole in it, it's giving me the chance to do some work on it seeing as it's new to me. I cleaned the chain today, took most of the afternoon as there was so much wax on it you couldn't tell if it needed adjusting, also with the front sprocket cover off I discovered that the gear leaver link wasn't secured at the engine end????? This bike really needs a bit of TLC.

I have seen a lovely colour matched undertray for the curvy that uses the OEM indicators. Looks better than the OEM snowshovel. I'll try and find the Dutch firm that made them.

I think these people make the OEM curvy lowers like you've got. So the quality & paint should be spot on.
The undertay is listed under the Sv650s. The one thing I didn't like was the numbrplate light, which uses the OEM one. But whether you have to use this I don't know.

The belly pan is a Roca, got it from Banditmania a few years back at the astonishing bargain price of 200 notes! They are called concept2 or what ever its called now(but still Roca). The good thing about my pan is that I can put lights in the little grill holes, but that was MORE wonga!, oh and it actually does the job its supposed to....keep the muck off the engine. I know some are just made to make the bike look pretty!

What numberplate bracket and light have you used mate?
I got off Evilbay. At the time I think it was a universal one. I've just had a look & I can't find the one I bought, although there's no listing for a 99 - 02 Sv now.
It's well made & the mini idicators have solid brackets to attach to. The numberplate should sit higher and cover up the bracket fixings, but I hadn't got round to getting another plate made up.
The X ones that this seller sells are very simiar to mine, and will support the number plate better.
I've had complaints that in bright sunshine my plate flickers a lot, and blinds the rider behind, because its flexing on the tail tidy. But its only fixed by 2 nuts, and would be better if I slid it up like I said above.
Anyway have a look at their ebay shop. The numberplate light is an Evotech led light.
You should find something to suit

Thanks! I prefer it to lowers, for now.
B&Q metallic spray paint on the cowl and pan, I thought it's pretty darn close colour! I got quite lucky!

Well the bikes out of the hanger and running, I think in it's current colour scheme it needs a German name, maybe Helga ;-)
