Anyone wo says "maybe" or "I'll try" in any thread to do with the AR11 means they aren't coming. They just want to feel like they're in the huddle.
Its a scientific fact. :D
Its next year! There's absolutely no reason barring death, redundancy or diablement that someone can't commit to this.
You can't say its because of money because you have 9 months to save. You can't say its because of time because a year is a good enough heads up. You can use an MOT, bust bike, worn tyres, flat battery or any other poor excuse. Its a year away! Plan better!
If you're going, you're going. None of this "I'll think about it" or "I'll try and make it" or "Hopefully, I can be there"
Commit! and go! :)
C
how are you going to be asking for suggestions?
I can think of somewhere but timing would be key to the run.
We'll put up a thread asking for the proposals in detail, with a deadline.
Then we'll put the proposals into a poll and the one with the most votes wins!!

how about the fact that I can't ride to far because my back is shot I really don't fancy taking 3 days to get there. And yes I made Hovis's funeral but just ask Dizz what i was like at Sandbach on the way back ( and how many painkillers I downed). I need to know where location is before I can commit.

So why not say "I'd love to be there but I can't make it for my back, unless its just down the road".
And it must be some back problem if it's not going to be fixed in a years time! (seriously)

I've never been, I've never suggested "I might go", I've not ever said "I'd maybe be there" or anything to that effect. I was racing the weekend it was on.
I've been running forums based trips for nearly a decade and anyone who doesn't fully commit isn't going to show up. They just want to feel part of the planning and groupiness of it all. The "ooh! Me too!" brigade.
Sorry if I've hit a nerve but one of my pet hates is no-shows. Say you're going to be there and be there, at the time you said you'd be there with the gear you said you'd bring and extra beers. :)

OK I see where you're coming from.
But the reply after you from BF is typical, it's just so far away & too many unknowns to absolutely say you'll be there.
So, meh, me too I'll probably be there.
So if its chattanooga, I presume that means bananaman has put his proposal in....

well despite the above, I'll say "maybe" at this stage, although I've only missed them through surgery/recovery in the past, I have a fair degree of physical fragility which tempers everything I do, so unlike Berlin I won't categorically state my attendance or not, but merely my intention which may annoy some people but is not only fair but realistic.
Still nice to see an AR section before the polls are run, nice one Sally.
Cheers Mark.

Haven't got this weeks.......off to buy it now.
wondering when the AR would resurface.
I noticed the pole said orose yorkshire and not you has Oliver offered to bare the burdan and are we still staying at the place we recced?
Yes and yes Smudge... same venue.
As a rough guide, what dates are good for people? At present, no-one has booked on the site past mid may, so we're pretty much free to choose anything beyond that. I've got provisional F1, MotoGP and WSB calendars to tie in, but I'm thinking of polling last weekend of June to first of Sept.
I have no idea but there are other things I need to arrange around the chosen date so the sooner the dates are decided on the better for me. My daughter is actually waiting before she chooses her wedding day until I tell her which date she can't have. :)
I suggest pick 4 possible week ends ( I like the sound of between June and September) - 2 in school term and 2 in school holidays. We're always going to have people who feel strongly that it should or shouldn't be in school holidays but you can't please all the people all the time. Orose/Lou - just make sure the ones you pick are still OK with the campsite, then we'll have another poll.
I'm hoping we get all the big decisions done and dusted well before Christmas.
I shall wait with big anticipation. Can the poll run for just one day?
but I'm thinking of polling last weekend of June to first of Sept.
Ollie, could you possibly pm Stuartyboy to see what dates the GM are likely to be this year? It has been the end of June for the last two years, and it would be a pity for either event to be diluted because they clashed with each other. :(
I doubt they'll clash - if it runs anything like previous years, everyone else adjusts to fit in with the AR. Our venue is completely unbooked from May onwards at present, so I'm only suggesting that range as a guide.
So far, the only events I'm aware of that people might use to guide themselves are the British F1 round (8-10 July), WSB (29-31 July) and MotoGP (17-19 June - too early for us IMO). The last two years were the last weekend in July and first in August respectively, so thats probably the time to target again.

I can tell you don't have school age kids. My daughter finishes school 2nd week in July.
Please can we avoid school holidays.
It's a shame all the good weather is in spring!
August see,s to always pe down up here.
Is it not possible to have dates inside and outside of the school holiday period to choose from? At least it makes if fair for those who have kids to vote for a date outside of school holiday time.

I've got kids in school, don't make a difference ...because the AR is on a weekend:rolleyes:
Am I missing something?
Yes. It takes a day to get to the venue, which means leaving home on the friday. This can be much more difficult if you are tied to a school through work or kids.
But, as with the venue, it'll be down to what the majority want.
I've got kids in school, don't make a difference ...because the AR is on a weekend:rolleyes:
Am I missing something?
Yes - cos people like to go on holiday and if the AR is in school hols then it makes it harder to shuffle.

Makes a difference to me. A big difference. If the AR falls on the half of the summer holidays that I have my kids, then I simply won't be able to attend. I have them for the first two weekends plus an additional one week further in to the holidays. Being divorced I obviously have limited time with them. I wouldn't even contemplate giving up having them so I could go on the AR. Besides, the court order says I HAVE to have them over that period.
Having the AR outside of the school holiday period puts pay to any concerns at all. Plus of course as Ed suggested.

There's a pool at the site in Wem;)
You've missed your chance, boyo... :p
There is no pool on site but as the dates are well after spring there should be plenty of rain.
EDIT: Devils is a good place to swim!
I'd rather not - it has a nasty habit of hurting when you do it wrong
I guess there is no update on a poll for dates etc?
Not just yet, no - close of play today, I'll have something

Just wondered whats the score on dropping in on the site say sat or sun for an hour or two just to say hello and meet a few peeps or is it closed unless your doing the full weekend?
I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem - would be better off bringing a tent, just in case you are force-fed beer by miscreants :p

+1 on the tent....if the likes of DavePreston get wind of your arrival, you will be tied to an airbed with bungees and forcefed alcoholic beverages until you can waddle no more :)
And if preston fails in this, the only duty I'd trust him with, it'll be him on said airbed :p

The location for this is about 30 miles away from where I got to University but I'll be at home in August, about 350 miles away from where you're doing the annual rideout from :(
Looks like I'm gonna have to give it a miss.
Find a friend closer to you who's riding up (or down), and make it happen - I'm sure there are people thinking of coming from all extremes of this fair island

Yeah, but they aren't students who can only afford to put petrol in the bike twice a month!
Fair point - we're half thinking about the route for the rideout being to the chippy and back (a huge 4 miles)
