Great looking event but at 860 miles round trip (usng motorway zzzz) I think I might have to give this a miss.
Having said that I have a few friends in Gosport who could put me up the nights before but I really don't think I'll make it down...
Come on Dean, get your **** down here your mum would love to see you! ;-)

Seeing as how nobody ever leaves the place in Gosport I know you're talking about I probably still know some of them too... Find an excuse to visit for work and expense the trip.

Tut well I wasn't actually planing on going back to my house at all that weekend, I was going to get the wench to ferry all my stuff in her cage.
Tut suppose. It's only a garden hose, a bucket and sponge tied to the end of a stick tut. Tut

Hmm, if only I could find a way to get this place to send me down there I would. It would certainly help with the funds...
Hmm, the more I think about this the more I want to do it, still not done an AR.

Looks to be a good weekend all told, well done chaps. Certainly won't be committing this early as I'll be needing to insure and tax the bike round then so could get a leetle expensive that month.
Oh and crotch floss and undercracker rejuvenation were closely followed by much chortling on my part, Fallout and Sir Trev
I hope to be there :)
Can't tell yet, the Mrs hasn't got her new calendar out yet so I can't book anything in it.

IIRC lots of Southerners ventured up to the Dales in 2011, I guess we're just rougher n tougher and more committed. Probably better riders too
All true - twice for a sizeable number of people. Three times in the case of some of us.

All you northern nancies who are thinking of giving it a miss, consider this; in 2010 I finished work at 6pm, got on my already loaded bike and rode from Bedford to mid-Wales to get ratar5ed in the bar, then spend the night comatose in the main compartment of Shelly's tent, followed by a ride home early the next afternoon. This was inbetween two kidney operations.
Man the f*** up, the lot of you.

^^^ This.
I went to last years after work, 120 mile motorway blast to Essex, vaguely 'knowing' 2 people there and that's it! Had a great time, met some great people and got some fantastic memories from that weekend.
The GM has been woken up since the early part of this year and has become a very active riding group. We have a group ride out at least once a week, and even on a cold November day we had a group of 15 out for a blast!
The only cost you'll incur personally on the weekend is fuel to get there, fuel to get around and then food and drink. It's a bargain of a weekend in one of the best biking locations in the South.
If I don't have to show my passport at some point, I'm not interested.
The reason we decided to camp in the centre of the police hotspot is its surrounded by good roads and it means we can ride away from the police to the great roads on the outskirts while they are clustered round our camp area.
Trick is to wait til they're doing Bikesafe sessions from Loomies. If they're all in the cafe giving people grief for riding normally, they won't be out issuing tickets.
And I believe that road is being surveyed for suitability by our dedicated team, we've sent them out 10 times but apparently they aren't sure and need to check again.
I did the stretch from Midhurst to Winchester on Sunday. Absolutely rubbish. Hardly any nice straight bits, it just kept veering left, right, up and down all the time. Useless.
May go, normally something comes up though, holiday, kids, sell the bike. This could be the fifth AR over a number of years i said i'd go to then end up not going for one reason or another. Distance wont be the issue though :-)

If I can manage to get any-damn-where at all on my 'motorbike' however far it is, then just about anyone that does not have a prior arrangement can - if they actually want to that is. Anything else is just excuses.

It's not too early to start offering bribes to the AR photographer either. Photoshopping your angle of lean on corners to make you look more Rossi like on the ride and then deletion of anything embarrassing after 2 shandies are all possible... for a fee. I accept cash or Maltesers.

Another LOL here for that one!!
How I wish there was a manual, so I could send it to my US colleagues who just do NOT get my sense of humour. When I suggested on a conf call yesterday we should have a cash prize for the first statutory submission received to make quarter end more fun two of them thought I was serious...
Suggestion - do not make me a ride out marshall as I may just send people the wrong way for a laugh.

Ok so
me n mandy have tikets to see Robbie Williams on the saturday night - 5pm at Man city stadium..
so out goes sat night fun ..
but- we could come down friday afto and stay over and do half the ride out and peel off at lunch and head home ..
where is lunch> ? what time? or are we heading further north at any time of the ride out? so we could scoot off for a 3 hour ride home.
Quiff, The ride is highly unlikely to venture as far North at the M25. Lunch will likely be between Guildford and Basingstoke. You can get onto the M40 in about 40 mins from the core of the ride with fairly good/quick roads heading in that general direction. You'll be able to get on A3/ M3/ A34 /M4 relatively easy at several points in the day.
Drop Robbie a note and ask him to delay the start a bit. Maybe get him to come to us and do a gig Friday evening instead.

You seem to have made a typo there. Surely what you meant was
'I would go later to the gig and the support act is poor, in fact he's total rubbish and really I should file for divorce on the grounds that my Misses not only likes this idiot but is making me watch too which is an infringement of all my human rights and an act of extreme cruelty.'
Robbie live will involve lots of drinking, swearing, crutch thrusting, some bad singing, a bit of uncoordinated dancing and an overpriced burger. Can you not just convince Mandy that she can have ALL this at the AR and some jelly wrestling and see several of the GM in mankinis?

I don't mind making cakes but the issue is how do I transport them to Hampshire? I have panniers but already need to pack photographic gear and a tent, sleeping bag, hair straighteners, frocks etc. At AR this year I managed to totally fill up my barge of a car and then had to go back home pillion to get my bike.
I just had a little birthday present delivered to the office - a CRATE of sweets called the 1980s selection. Fizzwhiz, Wham bar, pineapple chunks, Black Jacks, Lovehearts and loads more. My lovely ex boyfriend is trying to kill me with a sugar overload. I'm popular with my colleagues this afternoon.

Last year I made chocolate fudge cake, lemon drizzle, coffee cake, Victoria sponge, Choc chip cookies, banana loaf and 48 cup cakes with special AR cake Toppers.
Paul the 6th arrived and asked why there was no carrot cake. Hong asked why there was no dairy free cake.
So I took a carrot cake up to Paul's in York.
And I adapted the lemon drizzle and took one to Wales for a weekend with Hong.
It's all so complicated!

Don't be a wuss! Although I admit, if there's chance you might be ambushed by some of that southern lot then you might have every reason to be worried ;)
May I just remind everyone that Her Majesty's Glorious South is one of the safer places to live - we don't encourage madmen running round with guns killing people down here since Michael Ryan topped himself at Hungerford, unlike that northern bunch in recent times.
Move south, it's not as grim as the north.
