Don't be a wuss! Although I admit, if there's chance you might be ambushed by some of that southern lot then you might have every reason to be worried ;)
Surely theres someone else who's passing this area or something? I cant be the most northern rider going?!
I'll have to go down with some form of defensive mechanism, incase i find any unfriendly alien like characters who dont know anything exists other than them from down 'sarf.

well 300 miles takes me to around Wrexham where i could stop off in a B&B then a nice leisurely 170 odd miles the next day.

should this be the same for mine?
no fun flying. i like to stop off and sight see hence the lack of MW.
if its a full power twin spark SV650 then yes.

how does the ecu restriction effect fuel?
andrewsmith
28-12-12, 11:12 PM

Nope!
Lance gets stupid MPG!
I get 50mpg being gentle, cracking on like at GMV 37mpg or going totally loopy 27mpg
LewSpeight
28-12-12, 11:13 PM
how Lance HOWWWWW..
i'm 5ft feck all and weigh 11st.
it's all to do with riding style. smooth and progressive with no cracking the throttle wide open on straights and no slowing down for corners. i also keep my bike in tip top condition. don't know if the suspension has anything to do with it but if it does then yes i have some very nice suspension.
before you say it no i don't ride like a wuss.

You couldn't keep up with Chucca and me at GM (and you were marking ;) )
Lance does ride quick, but the bike is fully sorted

That'd what its like for me, 50ish mpg doing 70/80mph on motorway with the odd blast to keep me awake. Then 100ish miles to a tank (13litre) when commuting to college everyday have had a 80 miles to 13l but I was bombing it mixed with college and stop starting.
yes but Dean is a different kettle of fish and just poetry in motion.

Damn, i wish i'd ridden with you guys! I feel numb and hopeless when you all talk about how people are like to ride with haha
Ah i see. I weigh 12 stone.. What are the main things to maintain that will effect fuel?
brakes, tire pressures, regular oil/filter changes and tune ups. brakes being the big one.
LewSpeight
28-12-12, 11:37 PM
Phew. I'm doing most things right then, what do you mean by 'tune ups'?
andrewsmith
28-12-12, 11:38 PM
Brakes are a must. I've spent the last year with naff ones through one thing and another
They will be evil next year
LewSpeight
28-12-12, 11:40 PM
Best way of checking they're all okay?
Sorry guys, im just a complete n00b but very eager to learn
andrewsmith
28-12-12, 11:43 PM
Best its to strip and clean the calipers every 12 months as a maintenance item (the tockio twin pots on SV's are good when kept clean). Also if there is rubber hoses on swap them for braided lines as they give a big improvement for 60 quid (front) and 25 rear
LewSpeight
28-12-12, 11:44 PM
Yeh i bought mine with braided hose's already. Is there always a noticeable difference in performance, or just when it comes to servicing?
andrewsmith
28-12-12, 11:48 PM
from oem rubber to braided there is a big improvement as the pressure is more constant.
When I service mine, I know when mine are due as the response of the brakes is slow for the input (at the lever). A brake service never goes amiss especially if your unsure of condition

Got stuff to do once I get there, Motorway = maximum miles/minimum time, a boring but necessary evil for me that week!

You need to come mate. I need to show you how to service your bike properly, because obviously I know a lot more than you, and my screwdrivers are better.
my screwdriver may be small but works just fine. but if you show me yours then i'll show you mine and we will compare chewed tips :-)

No, I parked across the lights in the long lay-by, just to take a look at the camp site, then turned round and went home again.
Was on a Black / silver trail bike.

Nice to see it not submerged under water. Let's hope it stays that way.

The man makes a good point.
on this forum because we like riding, right?
You might have thought so, but considering there are some who won't go 'cos the meet is more than 3/8" from their house, perhaps not.
I hope to. The June date suits me better, than the recent AR's in the school hols. I haven't seen some peps in a long while.

But if you are also free last weekend in August then there is another rideout at the AR12 site. Hope to see you there too.
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?p=2813096#post2813096
And no doubt there would be others now that the AR is in place - lots of people wait to see when that is, and then arrange the calendar for the rest of the year around it.

That was our plan. We'll be at the AR of course, but the site in Essex is a good base for a ride and the pub are happy to have us back again so we thought we'd open it up to all.

Any objection if I move this thread into the AR13 section ?
But should the AR13 stand apart ?
As long as they its in a ride out forum then it's the right place
Any objection if I move this thread into the AR13 section ?
I've no problem with that. Only put it here in the first place for maximum exposure.
