What were the changes in the updates? Was it just the start point moving from Tiverton Parkway to the Travelodge at J27 ? I printed out the route just before Jabba posted this #-o.

Yep just the start point also Mogs has tweaked it a bit so we bypass Tiverton itself I think.

Mogs said something about dawdling around whilst everybody fueled up a little petrol station in Tiverton last time.

Have a good day at work, you know it makes sense, the roads will still be around for a while yet.

Look on the bright side, the run will be a tad quicker as we'll not have to recapture the strays ;)

That'll be about right, every time I've ridden that route on a rideout its p*ssed down. Every time I ride around that area by myself its been a baking hot sunny day.

I changed the start location to the Travelodge as some people may be staying there.

It then made more sense to ensure that everyone fuels up there, which in turn makes it unnecessary to go through Tiverton. Thus the tweak to the route taking the A361, west to pick up the A396 north.

Starting to keep an eye on the weather..... all part of the service :D

From the metoffice.com website for South West England:

"Thursday noticeably colder with heavy showers, perhaps with hail and thunder. Friday cloudy, with occasional rain or drizzle. Saturday mostly dry but also cloudy, with a chilly northeast wind."

Looking at more detailed forecasts for Minehead and Woolacombe, it should be sunny and dry, if a little chilly. Leave the thermal linings in your jackets I suggest.

However, the weather will not provide an excuse for not being there ;)

I would recommend that instead of following the main road just before you start decending into Woolacombe that you turn off right and go through Mortehoe. You'll then follow the coastline on the Espanlade from the far end of the bay giving a geat view and it adds no distance. At the end of the Esp is the Red Barn. Wooly used to be a surf haunt of mine so I know it well.

Have fun!

Wen't to book the first service for my new bike last saturday and they said they were fully booked until April 11th . I phoned around and could get it done at another dealer but they wanted £110 for whats basically oil change. Phoned back bevans where I'd bought the bike and explained the situation and they managed to squeeze me in thursday . So I'll be there unless the weather is bad, want to keep everything shiny.

I'm in Henleaze, and as I've already volunteered to wear a fluorescent vest I can't duck out. _stretchie_ is in Filton, and he'll be coming as well, assuming the bike is roadworthy by then. We'll sort something out closer the time.

It is with much sadness :smt089 :smt089 and anger :smt093 :smt068 that I have to say that I probably won't make this rideout:smt089 :smt089 . It seems that work, more importantly the salaries section, can't get their acts together, and so after messing up last months paternity pay and then shorting me by £700 this month it leaves me too short to cover this months bills. Apparently all the system is being used processing the year-end finance stuff so they can't even BACS the error until next week :smt093 :smt093 :smt093 which doesn't help considering mortgage and all comes out on Monday:smt093 :smt093 .

Anyway, with the TLR being a thirsty girl and being totally broke I just can't justify it and divorce would definately be on the cards.

Sorry Mogs, I know you've put a fair bit of work into the organisation of Point/TEC etc.

Have a good day all, I'll be very jealous:smt089

Yep, no problem.
I can fetch you from the BAWA, if you are really paranoid about getting lost. Last I heard stretchie was still off the road, but he appears as attending in Mogs' list above.

We'd best allow at least 20 minutes to get to the Gordano services to be sure.

Hovi5 - Hi Viz, if Tec and Point Get so close together that you need to distinguish by colour something will have gone horridly wrong.

Shame for Carlos, I'm sure a read a rule somewhere that all refreshments for TEC and Points are paid for by the rest of the group, since Jabba and I are likely to be doubling up on shifts that's double burgers.

I'll sort TEC/Point on the day.

Stretchie made big promises - that's the problem with you Englishmen all talk and no substance.

I may take Pheasant Hunter. Sorry for fekkin' up the day so early into the ride, feeling rather stupid throwing the bike down the road on my first ride out with your guys.

Thanks to all those who checked I was ok and stayed with me until the bike was recovered. I'll post some pics tomorrow assuming I can move that is!

cheers

You didnt feck it up, dont worry or feel stupid, these things happen sometimes, you're in one piece and thats the important thing.

Hi Jamie, real pity your first SWS rideout ended like this, but at least it sounds like you are OK. Just limping a bit few a week or two.

As Fizz said aaprt from that, a nice day, and we only caught few drops of rain right at the end.

We met at Tiverton at the appointed time.

From where I took point for the 30 odd miles to Dunster. It was on the section that jharris slid the front on a partially mangled pheasant stuck to the line on a left-right sequence. Also around this time a vital structural piece of rust failed on squirrel_hunters exhaust necessitating some roadside repairs to reattach the can.

We arrived in Dunster where proper repairs could be carried out. With pliers.

After Dunster the group got split up, as Jabba and Caz had stayed with Jharris, and Fizz and Beenz also went back to join them, agreeing to catch us up when possible.
As we were about to leave, baldyman suffered alarm/immobiliser trouble and choose to stay back and catch us up. I switched to TEC and Mogs took the lead. Nice run up through Porlock and over the top where the moors are on the cliff tops. We stopped as planned at a car park near Long Lane (I think).

Where I pretended I was a photographer.

Mr and Mrs Baldyman had joined a convoy of Harleys by this point, but on spotting us decided to leave them and rejoin us.

From the Long Lane carpark to the Red Barn in Woolacombe via a really nice scenic route. Caz caught up with us just as we got there, having left the others as the recovery vehicle was arriving. Lunch at the Red Barn, by the end of which Beenz, Fizz and Jabba arrived.

Also here, squirrel trotted out his tired 'hey don't I know you from somewhere' line on the waitress, and this time got a hit! Result! Sadly no photos mark this occasion.

From the Red Barn to Crediton and beyond, via the actual planned route!

We stopped at a pub by a nice bridge not too far south of Tiverton, the Fisherman's Rest or some such.

It really was quite a nice bridge. See.

I think this pic should be a SV650 site front page.

From there, Fizz took the lead on the last section back to the Little Chef at Tiverton, were I had a nice Tea cake and cup of tea, and everybody else laughed at the waiter.

I'm uploading photos now...

That's the Fishermans Cot at Bickleigh. The bridge is the actual bridge being refered to in Simon & Gurfunkel's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'. Full of little facts (****) me aren't I...?
