Re: Getting rid of clip ons....🤔

An acquaintance of mine, some years back, took his top yoke off and welded a set of risers to it, so that he could fit a Renthal Bar. I have no idea what this did to the top yoke, but it did look...

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

Update time, I have now fixed the bike, sorted the indicator issues and I can get my riding boots on again. Riding however is problematic for a couple of reasons. I'm finding that I am really nervous...

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

I have finally got her all back together, having checked everything worked. I went to start the engine and everything was dead. The battery is (very rude words, said with furious venom!) flat.

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

Yeah, about that... Apparently that is a gap for the radiator filler cap. Thank the maker that I checked it before digging out my plastic welding iron! :smt082

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

I will add that everything else is going well. The new brake lever has been polished up and I have used some shiny new stainless bolts to hold it all together.

I am thinking about trying to...

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

I have been pulling my hair out with repairs... Namely electrical. I smashed the front right hand side LED indicator, in the fairing, when I came off. This was a lovely little flush mount unit and it...

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

Thank you. As it was, my bar weights had some scratches, but with a bit of gentle file and sandpaper work, they polished up lovely. So much so, that I clear coated them, rather than painting them....

Right Hand Side foot peg hanger

I now have a grubby RHS rear set from a K4/5, with very tatty black paint.
I needed the brake lever, but the rest is available to anyone who wants it, in exchange for a small fee and postage....

The rebuild has started...
I have a damaged thread on the back of the heel plate, that holds the bracket for the brake reservoir. That has been fixed and only took a slight drilling and retapping...

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

I took a bite out of my bar end weights, which are originals & give excellent damping on the Renthal bars. Looking at replacement parts on e-Bay, they seem to have a lot of aluminium... Do these...

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

Thank you everyone for kind words of support.

There was one funny moment immediately after it all happened. A pedestrian got a little cross with the car behind me, thinking that they had knocked...

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

I have found a unit for £25, but for a K6. I am fairly sure that the parts are interchangeable, but before I stump up the cash, am I right on this?

Re: Oh poo, I need some bits

That is great, thank you. I didn't think of looking for the whole assembly. :-)

Falling off is always annoying, but I am an old lady now with a long list of medical problems, so getting back up...

Re: Toyota reliability

I have a twenty year old, two door Corolla, that has 95 000 miles on her and drags my bike around on a trailer with ease.

It is still a lovely car after years of use and the auto box (I'm a...

Unhappy Oh poo, I need some bits

Tally ho friends, I hit a patch of diesel on a roundabout yesterday and decided to have a little lay down on the road, dropping my precious Sylvie and generally looking like a learner trying to turn...

Re: Auto-Clutch Conversion

Unfortunately, my years as a professional climber combined with a congenital medical condition that effects my joints, means that my hands are effed and getting worse.

When I was climbing, I was...

Re: Auto-Clutch Conversion

From what I can gather, the Rekluse system would be about £1K, as opposed to £10k for a new bike.

Also, I have had a Yamaha... :nomore:
It was a complete dog and no matter how much I replaced...

Re: Hovis 15 Years.

I met him a couple of times and he was a character alright. I was a shy young thing back then, still on 33BHP and scared to say boo to a goose, for which he teased me quite gently in person. Happy...

Auto-Clutch Conversion

Hi Folks, it's me again and no doubt I am being a nuisance.

As some of you may know, I am an old bag who is now in her fifties and is feeling rather cross about it. For some time now I have been...

Re: The state of other peoples' bikes

As a cyclist, I see it all of the time on bicycles too. Supposedly intelligent adults riding around with brakes disconnected, flat tyres and chains that can barely run.

Some folks just have no...

Re: K3 front end

I have a K3, with both a bar conversion and a front end swap. The whole job cost more than my bike is probably worth, but she looks amazing and rides beautifully. However, I made the swaps because I...

Re: 25 years

I don't do mechanics or making in ball gowns anymore. Have you seen what happens when super glue hits satin? It is not pretty!

My bike is booked in for the MOT next week. It feels strange...
