I know the k3 thou is a bit different in many places to all other sv models but does anyone know for sure which rider seats are compatible with a k3 sv1000n. Also anyone got a compatible seat kicking about? Maybe part-ex one of my spare k3 pillion seats.

Are you after an after market seat. I think I have a k3 riders seat in the garage if that is what you are after

Im after something I can strip down and mess with. I had a recent ride on a thruxton which had a suede seat. Suede had a good grippy surface while still letting me move about and looked nice too. I also want to mess with the padding to compensate for my aging backside. Dont want to risk maki g everything much worse so want to keep my original original so I can go back.

I *think* the SV1000N K3 seats were the earliest incarnation of the reduced height rear end that became standard on everything K4-onwards.
However this notion comes from a vague memory of something I read at least 12 years ago. The shape of the side panels should tell you. Got a pic?

compare:
http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/mod...1000n%2003.htm with http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/mod...1000n%2005.htm to see the difference in shape. I know this implies that the 03 has the higher seat but every other picture I've seen of a naked K3 thou has the lower one. Perhaps there was a different spec for the South African version.

Mine is as per the silver one. It's silver too
![]() It looks like the blue one had a seat that does down deeper into the guts of the bike so I may be in bother. Guess I could phone the local dealer and check the part numbers. I used to have a link to a part number fiche but can't find it anywhere now.

But OK yours seems to be the higher one. I believe it's the same as the SV650SK3 seat. ie the odd one out. Try here for part numbers: http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

As I was curious, I did it for you.
That link shows the same parts for the year regardless of faired or naked, so: SV1000 K3 45100-16G10-W05 SV1000 K4 45100-16G32-W05 SV650 K3 45100-16G20-W05 SV650 K4 45100-16G41-W05 but as you can see the part numbers are different from 650 to 1000. Ok, we're no closer...

So that should be compatible with anything K4-onwards even if the part numbers don't match, and I was right about the K3 naked thous being different to other K3s but the same as all the later ones.
