Just off phone to Saltire as wanted idea of cost of service was quoted 200-250 quid. Does this seem reasonable as i am on my first bike and have no idea of what it should cost.

Way too much. It is oil/filter change and check over

Did you quote the interval or just ask about a service. It does sound a lot for that wee one. Shop around a wee bit more I think. Presumably you are looking to keep up the warranty etc?

I'd ping Bibio or IndyPhoto (though he's in plaster at the moment) personally...
Unless you want a dealers stamp in the book... Do it yourself. EVEN I can almost manage a light service...(with a little help!) |

Said included spark plugs air /oil filter change and throttle balance. Think it was throttle balance that constituted most of cost. And yes i told them it was 7500 mile service on a k6.Also just phoned cupars and was quoted 217 so seems price is right just expensive.

plugs/throttle balance are extras to the 7500 service requirement. But still easy and should not be taking it up to that price.

Just had 4000 mile service done today at Saltire. I was quoted 150-200 to include srip down of brakes and grease to reduce chance of sticky brakes, serves only was 120. Cupar quoted 160 for service without brakes being done. Was charged 150 from Saltire. Completely happy with their service.

kerching.... i'll do it for £100.. rofl
na all that is needed is oil, filter, blow out of air filter, sparkers will be fine, throttle balance, TPS adjusted (suzuki garage wont do this)drain hole prodded and a good grease up also chacking of bolts yada yada. if you want to pay £200+ for a stamp in a book that means nothing then fine. BTW as long as you use suzuki genuine parts and are 'competent' the warranty stands. if you want a mechanics sig then i'll get me bro to sign it (fully Q'd bike mech) |

I got two quotes for my 7,500 service; one from Cupar and one from Saltire.
Cupar said: Valvoline oil (2.7ltr) - £11.96
oil filter - £11.97 drain plug washer - £1.25 spark plugs (4x) - £41.36 sundries - £2.55 labour (4hrs) - £180 Total = £249.99 Saltire laughed and said: as above but @£180. Took the bike to Saltire and they charged just that. Brilliant job, and guys are really customer focused - even washed the bike. Unlike the "couldn't care less" attitude I experienced from Cupar...... |
