Default How can I check my bikes correct mileage?

I may be being paranoid but I'm wondering if my most recently acquired curvy SV might have higher mileage than I was led to believe.

The first owner did 22,000 miles in the first 6 years and I have all his service receipts. I bought the bike at 25,000 miles meaning the second owner did 3,000 miles in 4 years. There's no service receipts for his period of ownership.

On the face of it, he didn't use the bike much and didn't get it serviced. TBH that's precisely what it looked like and it's not exactly unheard of.

However, I've just noticed the MOT from June 2009 shows 9,053 miles (yes, I know I should have checked this at the time). I don't have the other MOT certs.

So, giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, the MOT centre could have made a mistake - that's happened to me before. The other possibility is the clocks were changed.

Can I find out the mileage shown on previous MOT certs? If the one from 2008 showed 24,000 I'd put it down to an MOT tech's mistake. If it showed, say, 30,000 I could put a hat on it and give it a very different name.

Any advice appreciated.

And for the benefit of future post searchers, I am referring to the yellow SV I bought this year. I'm NOT talking about my black SV which I may be offering for sale to the org in the Spring.

But surely you'd bang the originals on for the MOT if you were up to those tricks. Anyway, I know how to find him......

Thanks for the link Fastdruid - I didn't think it would be that easy. Results are;

June 2006 22,886 miles
Sep 2007 24,250 miles
Test failed for Horn not working, front & rear brakes binding

Then looks like it's been off the road for a couple of years (I'm 100% certain it's not been raced)
26/06/09 9,053 miles
Failed for cracked front brake lever and advisory for drive chain slightly loose
01/07/09 9,053 miles
Passed

He told me he didn't use the bike much while he was living in England and working in Scotland. Had it in his garden under a cover and it blew over in the wind - hence the broken lever. Then the family all moved to Scotland last year and he put it back on the road.

It all seems to tie in apart from the 9,053 miles - it seems strange it's showing the same mileage 5 days apart when the MOT centre is a fair few miles from his house.

I think mistake on the part of the MOT centre. My cool is returning.

I'd go with a mistake at the test centre personally. If there aint owt wrong with it, get some miles on of your own!
