Hi folks
New to the board and this is my first post so any help gratefully received. I've recently bought a 2000 SY as a bit of a summer project and up until today everything has gone well bike passed it's MOT with no issues but on the way back from the MOT station the immobiliser started to play up basically Stopped the bike it arms after few seconds two flashes of indicator and that's it but it decided to keep flashing and wouldn't arm. Did this for a bit I disconnected the battery and reconnected everything reset. Started to doing it again but this time it re-armed and now nothing it wont disarm. It's a oxford GSI pro fit but it looks like it's dead. Looking for some advice the way i see it i have two options 1. Remove the unit completely - How easy is this? 2. Replace unit - Would it be easy to replace the unit with the same make/model? Over to you......and thanks in advance for any help |

Remove it.
For the age of the bike it probably wouldn't be worth replacing it, financially, compared to the saving on insurance. A f**k-off great chain would be more simple and effective, in my opinion. And welcome, come on in. |

Was leaning toward removing it but i've heard horror stories about taking alarm/immobilisers off basically i was think take your time trace wires back from immobiliser, remove wire and re-join two original wires using butt connectors with heat shrink to help keep the crap out. Do you think that will about do it?

Fortunately I've never had to remove one as mine's never had one but that sounds like the sort of plan I'd have. I'd solder any wires that needed rejoining as well as the heat shrink though, much more reliable.

Cheers for the reply so I had a look today and doesn't look to difficult more annoying one question I do have though is I have three wires that are wired directly to immobiliser they are black/yellow, black/green and black/white. According to my wiring diagram they should go in to a starter control relay which I can't find on the bike I read on another thread that this was only fitted to the US model and the european model had a 'loopback plug' fitted.
Any idea what this is and how I get one i've checked the internet and can't seem to find the plug or the starter control relay |

Could you put a pic up of the wiring to the immobilizer.

Not sure photo helps much but it's the only bit i'm unsure off. Basically 3 wires coming into the battery box from around the starter relay. As I said before 3 colours black/yellow, black/green and black/white but there's nothing to connect them to. The black wires come from the immobiliser direct so i'm assuming this is the starter cut out setup?
I read you just connect the black/yellow to the black/green and it creates the connection between the clutch switch and the starter switch to give power to the relay but i'm not sure and want to make sure before I go ahead. All other wires seem straightforward to reconnect to the original setup Thanks |
